<i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/02/video-doomtree-final-boss.html" target="_blank">Doomtree </a></i>released the latest video from their stellar LP,
<i>All Hands</i> this week. If I recall the record came out sometimes around January and
I’m still getting lots of mileage out of it. “Heavy Rescue “ is one of the many
highlights on the record so sit back and enjoy some visuals that were directed
by <i>Stef Alexander</i>, aka <i>P.O.S. </i>and don't be afraid to bob your head. <o:p></o:p><br />

don’t really see that changing any time soon given the musical climate of the last
5 years or so, but for those who are looking for a good dose of psychedelic
punk rock that adds some <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/05/video-nick-cave-bad-seeds-mermaids.html" target="_blank">Nick Cave</a></i> and <i>Stooges</i> take note.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
"<i>Solar Plexus</i>" is the latest song to be shared
from the bands forthcoming LP, <i>All Things Under Heaven</i>, due October 2nd
via <i>American Primitive</i> and it’s got a video shot by <i><a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm6330422/" target="_blank">Aric Lorton</a></i> to boot. <o:p></o:p></div>

Purchase the limited edition vinyl release from <i><a href="http://www.roughtrade.com/albums/96287" target="_blank">Rough Trade</a></i>
here and make sure to check the band out live if you get a chance, I’ve seen
them 6 times over the years and its always a good time. Was looking forward to
seeing them this Friday at <i><a href="http://www.saintvitusbar.com/" target="_blank">Saint Vitus</a></i> but the show was canceled for some
reason.<o:p></o:p><br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
San Francisco’s <i><span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2014/08/listen-deafheaven-from-kettle-onto-coil.html" target="_blank">Deafheaven</a></span></i> are dropping a new LP and follow
up to the largely successful <i>Sunbather</i> next week on October 2nd via <a href="http://www.anti.com/" target="_blank"><i>Anti-</i></a>. <i>New Bermuda</i>
falls in line with the <i>Sunbathers</i> sound, ie. The sound of the underground in
1999-2003 or so. That’s by no means a dig, I love the era of punk music which
is why I like <i>Deafheaven</i> and can happily state that I enjoy their latest album as well... But for those of you who missed the last record and have no idea what these
guys sound like think lots of Chaos with bits of ambience mixed in along the
lines of <i><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchid_(screamo_band)" target="_blank">Orchid</a></i>, <i><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeromes_Dream" target="_blank">Jeromes Dream</a></i>, <i><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saetia" target="_blank">Saetia</a></i> and anything coming out on <i><a href="https://www.roboticempire.com/" target="_blank">RoboticEmpire</a></i> and <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2012/11/go-buy-this-hydra-head-records-massive.html" target="_blank">Hydrahead</a></i> during their most prolific years.<br />

I am a remix junky, there is nothing that tickles my fancy more
than being able to call out a reference or sample that’s been re-contextualized
and re-packaged for public consumption. Some people truly make an art form out
of it, surpassing the inspiration and flipping it on its head for something altogether
unique and exciting. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<i><a href="http://kirbyferguson.com/" target="_blank">Kirby Ferguson</a></i> celebrates the remix as much as I do and has
made his well-known series “<i><a href="https://www.facebook.com/everythingisaremix" target="_blank">Everything is a Remix</a></i>” available for the first time
ever as one long play video. Although some
of this content has been around for 5 years now, everything has been given a
polish and new transitions to make it all work even better in celebration of
the series anniversary.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Grab some popcorn and a drink, get comfortable and enjoy the
40 minute clip, it might even surprise some
and change your outlook on what makes something original and why we are attracted
to the things that we are in the first place.<br />

Clearly I’m not posting as much as I used to, simply put I’ve
just become a little more selective. I’m sure now that winter is around the
corner again I’ll be spending more time in front of the computer screen, my

<i>Meow The Jewels</i> tune from the forthcoming remix project due out by the end of
September. <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2012/11/download-captain-murphy-duality-deluxe.html" target="_blank">Just Blaze</a></i> take’s on “<i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2014/12/video-run-jewels-oh-my-darling-dont-cry.html" target="_blank">Oh My Darling Don’t Cry</a></i>” turning it into “<i>Oh
My Darling Don’t Meow</i>.” It’s another winner for sure but misses some of that brilliant
playfulness that <i>Boots</i> captured when he manned the deck for “<a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/07/listen-meow-jewels-meowrly.html" target="_blank">Meowrly</a>.” The cat
sounds could be a lot higher in the mix and there could be more of them
but that’s just me nitpicking at the end of the day.<br />

New Yorker’s love to leave the city, it makes them feel special
to reconnect with nature, they even pay top dollar to escape their overpriced apartments
to go do yoga and play farmer for the weekend. They do so in areas that often
resemble the various countries and rural towns around the world they ran away from in
the first place! It’s all very confusing
but the point is <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/08/video-joanna-newsom-sapokanikan.html" target="_blank">Joanna Newsom</a></i> has shared another new song off her

<i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2012/11/video-tame-impala-feels-like-we-only-go.html" target="_blank">Tame Impala</a></i> shared a video for <i>Currents</i> cut "<i>Let
it Happen</i>". The tune might be my overall favorite on the excellent record
and the video captures the mood of the song quite well, although this is a
radio edit which kind of bums be out since it is such a killer tune. The band
team up with <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/01/video-tame-impala-mind-mischief.html" target="_blank">David Wilson</a></i> to handle directing duties again for this frightening journey
into one man’s mind.<o:p></o:p><br />

As previously reported <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/07/listen-youth-lagoon-knower.html">Trevor Powers</a></i> is gearing up to drop
his latest LP, <i>Savage Hills Ballroom</i> on September 25th. Our second
taste of the LP, and first video, comes in the form of “<i>Highway Patrol Stun Gun</i>.”
The song was inspired by the hailstorm of police brutality that’s been on many
peoples mind this last year and the isolation he feels living so far removed
from it. Directed by <i><a href="https://vimeo.com/kendyty">Kendy Ty</a></i>.<o:p></o:p><br />

<i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2012/06/listen-joanna-newsome-divers-wife.html">Joanna Newsom</a></i> shared the first taste of her forthcoming
LP, <i>Divers</i> today in the form of “<i>Sapokanikan</i>.” The <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/07/video-fiona-apple-hot-knife.html">Paul Thomas Anderson</a> </i>directed clip see’s <i>Newsom </i>walking the streets of NYC while singing her tale, day turning to night.<br />
<br />
I’ve never really thought of <i>Newsom</i>’s albums as a series of singles, they are
parts of a larger world that has to be experienced in its entirety to get the
complete picture. Thats being said “<i>Sapokanikan</i>” has several movements in itself changing
throughout and steadily building up. The song clocks in at just over 5
minutes but it actually feels longer as there is quite a lot to digest lyrically. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
My man <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/04/video-clarence-clarity-buck-toothed.html">Clarence Clarity</a></i> dropped a new video on us earlier
this morning for <i>NO NOW</i> cut, “<i>Will To Believe</i>.” The clip was directed by<i><a href="http://vinylwilliams.com/"> Vinyl Williams</a></i> and like the fantastic song keeps things jittery and jerky. There will be a follow up to the clip that is completely interactive but what that entails exactly and when it will drop are still a mystery to me.<br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>NO NOW</i>
continues to be my favorite album of 2015, certainly the most adventurous; so if
glitchy alternative R&B sounds like your thing, or perhaps you just want to hear something different, then make sure to c<a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/03/listen-clarence-clarity-no-now-lp.html">heck the album</a>
out in full. <o:p></o:p><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I’ve been praising <a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/04/video-health-new-coke.html"><i>HEALTH</i></a> for years and come next week when the LA band releases their new LP, <i>Death Magic</i>, I’m fairly certain many others will finally take notice. <i>Death Magic</i> follows in stride with the direction the band has been moving towards for the better part of the last five years. The collection of songs is infinitely more poppy and the electronics are more prominent then on <i>Get Color</i>. This version of <i>HEALTH</i> probably has most in common with “<i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2011/11/onomatopoeia-exclusive-download.html">USA Boys</a></i>” or “<i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2012/11/video-health-tears.html">Tears</a></i>” and for better or worse tones down on the noise elements found on earlier works. I’ve heard the record a whole lot in the last five days and love it but my personal tastes wish a little bit more of the noise was retained or even sustained in the songs that do go down that road and from past recordings. The record is well sequenced with songs, not directly flowing into the next per say, but more so rhythmically or sonically. If you don’t like what you hear in the first four songs then this record isn’t for as it’s a killer lead-in as far as these things go and offers a good blend of poppy <i>HEALTH</i> vs. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-PQDF39sr8">noisy <i>HEALTH</i></a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Studio engineering comes from the <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/01/listen-haxan-cloak-mirror-reflecting.html">Haxan Cloak</a></i>, <a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2012/06/video-mars-volta-malkin-jewel.html"><i>Mars Volta</i></a> engineer <a href="http://www.larsstalfors.com/"><i>Lars Stalfors</i></a>, and longtime <i><a href="https://soundcloud.com/onomatopeiaone/sets/jediak-pep-rally-ep">Kanye West</a></i> engineer <i><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Dawson_%28record_producer%29">Andrew Dawson</a></i> which only adds list of things that will make the record more high profile then anything the band has done before. It’s well deserved, the record is great and they are always amazing live so do yourself a favor, if you like what you hear, make sure to catch them next time they are in your town.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On a final note I hope the band continue with their tradition of releasing a <a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2011/09/onomatopoeia-exclusive-download.html">remix </a>album for this record as well, they always have really interesting people tinkering with their songs, often to great results and possibly even acting as inspiration or a stepping stone for where the band sonically finds themselves today.
<i>DEATH MAGIC</i> is out August 7th.</div>

proper taste of the “joke campaign” that became a reality late last year. But the

“<i><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-ORhEE9VVg">Blank Space</a></i>.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> And just earlier tonight I threw </span><i><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z3gkq_gWL4">Lynyrd Skynryrd</a></i> together with <i><a href="http://www.ratatatmusic.com/">Ratatat</a></i> for “<i>Simply Magnifique.</i>” You can stream, share and download from the players below.<o:p></o:p><br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Soundcloud</i> has gotten
stricter with their policies so<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>sometimes they disappear without warning. <o:p></o:p><br />

Well this is a pleasant surprise right here; <span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;"><i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2012/06/listendownload-el-p-killer-mike-mr.html">Despot</a></i></span>, the Queens rapper
and co-owner of NYC venue <i><a href="http://www.santospartyhouse.com/">Santos Party House</a></i>, dropped a studio single. For
those who follow the elusive emcee “<i>House of Bricks</i>” should be a familiar
live staple but with a solo album that’s long been in the works with little to
no sign having been shared, <i>HoB</i> is a good indication that this thing might
actually see the light of day. <i>E*Vax</i> of <i><span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://www.ratatatmusic.com/"><span style="text-decoration: none;">Ratatat</span></a> </span></i>fame, handles

It’s been so long since I we have heard anything from <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/08/video-youth-lagoon-raspberry-cane.html">YouthLagoon</a></i>. <i>Trevor Powers </i>returned to the Internet this week with news of his first
new music since 2013. “<i>The Knower</i>,” starts out simple enough with a somber
barebones approach but then gets quite jittery and closes things off with some
orchestration that would make <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2014/07/onomatopoeia-exclusive-download-jediak_25.html">Beirut </a></i>proud; good stuff. <i>Savage</i> <i>Hills Ballroom</i> is due on September 25th.<o:p></o:p><br />

"This short 1966 documentary dedicated "to all victims
of intolerance” depicts the dawn of <a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2014/09/video-supreme-joyride.html">skateboarding</a> in Montreal. A new activity
frowned upon by police and adults, skateboarding gave youngsters a thrilling
sensation of speed and freedom. This film - the first Canadian documentary ever
made about the sport - captures the exuberance of boys and girls having the
time of their lives in free-wheeling downhill locomotion."</div>

in-line with what the band does, bringing home video into the mix and letting

Back in April I mentioned that <a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/04/video-health-new-coke.html"><i>HEALTH</i></a> would be releasing a new LP on August 7th titled <i>Death Magic</i>. First single, “<i>New Coke</i>,” pushed forward with the LA noise group’s more dance oriented sound, but that should come as no surprise as they’ve been aggressively going that direction for quite some time now. “<i>Stonefist</i>” follows in those same footsteps with its immediately catchy pulsating rhythms and sharp sterile stabs that really has become something that defines the band’s sound. Whatever the case it’s another awesome tune from the group who I’ll be checking out again this Thursday when they roll into town to preview the new material live.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
As a reminder <i>Death Magic</i> will see some studio

It’s been a hot minute since I shared anything from <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/09/video-hunters-collectors-talking-to.html">The Avalanches</a></i>; Of course for the most part the collective hasn't actually given us
anything new in well over a decade, but I've
seemingly made it my duty to offer up a handful of treats to our readership
each year to keep the name and interest alive.<o:p></o:p></div>

What we have here is an ultra-rare short documentary about
<i>The Avalanches</i> and the creation of their classic album <i>Since I Left You</i> and rehearsing
their live sets. The clip was produced for and originally appeared on the
<i>Artzone</i> TV show in 1999 <o:p></o:p>and was written/directed and photographed by <i><a href="http://www.stellamotion.com.au/Contacts.html">Philippe Charluet</a></i>.<br />

Wow it’s been six months since I last shared <a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/search/label/Playlist"><span style="text-decoration: none;"><span style="color: #444444;">a new playlist</span></span></a>, it was October, almost Halloween and the long winter was
just about to get started with us. Well It’s late April now and we are starting
to hit those much needed sunny days so it only seemed right I buckle down and finish
this extended edition to make up for the long gap with something to play on those outdoor adventures and road trips.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><i>Online Dating</i> is what I’m calling Vol.6 in
the series and its an eclectic eighty-eight song long mix including five
and a half hours of music from the past, present and future, spanning a wide
range of genera’s that's sure to have a little something for every internet personality. <o:p></o:p></div>

I will not be posting any of the track information here or
in the metadata normally attached to the mp3 files. If you would like a copy of
the full track list you can contact us via email and we will gladly send it

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The new <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2015/03/listen-clarence-clarity-no-now-lp.html">Clarence Clarity</a></i> LP, <i>No Now </i>is without a doubt one
of my favorite records from the last couple of years; I've already made push to
get it heard by more people, and I hope my efforts thus far have worked on a handful
of you at least. "<i>Buck Toothed
Particle Smashers</i>," is the latest memorable tune from the record to get
the video treatment; in the clip a collage of VHS projections act as the
breeding ground to a series of figures who jerk and jolt to the glitchy rhythms
provided by the singer/producer. <o:p></o:p><br />

<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1">Fuck yeah! I love me some <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/01/video-health-breaks-down-their-score.html">HEALTH</a></i> and the L.A. band have finally announced <i>Death Magic</i>, their first studio album since 2009's <i>Get Color</i>. The record will be released on August 7 via <a href="http://www.lomavistarecordings.com/"><span class="s2"><i>Loma Vista</i></span></a> and with the announcement comes a new song and video for "<i>New Coke.</i>” As with most things <i>HEALTH</i> the experience can be a tense one, the clip was directed by the bands own <i>John Famiglietti </i>and the song checks off all those boxes that make <i>HEALTH</i> one of my favorite bands, ghostly vocals, interesting rhythms, thoughtful breakdowns and more. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1"><i>Death Magic</i> will see some studio engineering from the <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/01/listen-haxan-cloak-mirror-reflecting.html">Haxan Cloak</a></i>, <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2012/06/video-mars-volta-malkin-jewel.html">Mars Volta</a></i> engineer <a href="http://www.larsstalfors.com/"><span class="s2"><i>Lars Stalfors</i></span></a>, and longtime <i><a href="http://onomatopoeiaone.blogspot.com/2013/07/video-kanye-west-black-skinhead.html">Kanye West</a></i> engineer <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Dawson_%28record_producer%29"><span class="s2"><i>Andrew Dawson</i></span></a>, I’ve started counting down the days till this drops already.</span><br />
