Video: Glass Candy - "Halloween"
Happy Halloween all you ghouls out there….Glass Candy have dropped a sinister homage to the John Carpenter classic. A Candy coated gift for all the goblins in Candyland. This act’s as a teaser for the groups new lp ///BODY WORK///. Disorienting walls of synthesizers grasping for their last breath accompanied by Rossini's most disturbing work to date. Unforgiving arpeggios slash at us like tiny knives in the darkest night, while Ida channels messages from a ouija board, all very fitting for today. "It's Halloween For The Last Time" was directed By Alberto Rossini Exclusively For Italians Do It Better Films, enjoy…

Listen: El-P – “Rush Over Bklyn”
El-P dropped a new track whose proceeds will go towards the medical bills of friend and collaborator Mr. Dibbs. Dibbs is suffering from cirrhosis of the liver and is uninsured and facing enormous hospital fees. The track is sort of remix of “Drones Over Bklyn,” except with a redone beat that samples Rush’s “Tom Sawyer.” Here is where things get interesting, the tune comes courtesy of a new technology called Legitmix.
Basically the gist of it is “When a consumer purchases “Rush Over Bkyln”, the browser-based Legitmix software searches their computer for the “Tom Sawyer” track. If they don’t have it they can purchase it from Legitmix or any online music store. With a few mouse clicks, the Legitmix software recreates on the binary level “Rush Over Bklyn” on the consumer’s computer using their copy of “Tom Sawyer”. The price of “Rush Over Bklyn" is $0.70 plus the retail cost of the “Tom Sawyer” track (if the consumer doesn’t have it).”
Certainly an interesting concept in regards to dealing with sample clearance issues, time will tell if the software will catch on but color me curious for the time being. Click the download icon on the soundcloud player to purchase the track for the noble cause.

Video: Beavis and Butt-Head Re-launch
Mike Judge’s "Beavis and Butt-head" retuned to TV on Thursday night after a 14 year absence. The episode, "Werewolves of Highland" was the first new episode since the show stopped airing in 1997 and finds the boys right where we left them, sitting on the couch offering their commentary on tv. Last night's episode, for instance, finds Beavis and Butt-head watching MGMT's "Kids" video and commenting on a Skrillex clip. They also watch one of the Twilight films, then decide to become vampires and werewolves to get girls.

Listen: Summer Camp – ‘Welcome to Condale’ Full Album Stream
I’m not quite sure what I think of Summer Camp the duo of Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey, the band definitely have something I like but they also got a little something I don’t traditionally like. What ever the case they got me listening to their soon to be released debut album Welcome To Condale, that you can stream below channeling an undoubtedly 80′s sound.

Frenchmen The Blisters Boyz have stepped in with a great remix of Justice’s “Newlands” off of their recently released Audio, Video, Disco. Openings: Josh Keyes – “Migration” & AJ Fosik – “Time Kills All Gods” @ Jonathan Levine
Josh Keyes and AJ Fosik unveiled their latest body’s of work at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery this week and with two heavy weights showing together you can believe there was excrement in the air. Keyes’s portion of work is titled Migration and Josh had this to offer up on the subject of his show
“Migration and displacement were ideas that continued to surface in my mind while I was painting these images. I was thinking about the effects of climate change and the way some ecosystems that thrive in a specific range of temperatures—like polar or tropical climates—are experiencing a shrinking of their boundaries. Ecosystems that were separate are now slowly merging and overlapping one another, causing disruptions in the food web and increased competition for food and space among species. Some become displaced and are forced to migrate, in order to survive.”
It was good to see many JK favorites make a return, animals such as the alligator, orca whale and polar bear with Stampede, a 10′ x 5′ canvas that is Josh’s largest piece to date acting as the centerpiece. The show will be up until November 19th, so if you’re lucky enough to be in NY definitely make plans to see it.
AJ Fosik who has been highly visible as of late with the release of Mastodon’s new LP The Hunter which Josh created the cover art for shared with us his new collection titled 'Time Kills All Gods.' The new totems that are created from completely sustainable lumber sources continue the theme of animalistic trophies with some interesting departures for the artist including a large scale installation piece, some free standing mantle works and a series of more subdued hand sculptures. The sheer size of these things are quite impressive in person.
The collections will be shown from October 22, 2011 through November 19, 2011

New Massive Mural in Athens, Greece
This mural was painted in the span of a few days on a wall only a block up from the central square in Athens, where the Greek Parliament is situated and all the recent protests took place. Today the scaffolding was removed and I was able to snap some photos. The piece is an apt symbol for the current state of affairs in Greece as well as an artistic feat in its own right - I always thought the TV-test card was a catchy cult-logo whose potential has yet to be mined.
The spot is a popular one and it has been painted before. Check out this older 'three little pigs' themed mural on the same wall:

Japanese performance art collective Chim Pom share with us in the story of one of their more successful projects in which rats off Tokyo's Center Gai street, were the rodents in the area are known as “super rats” for their size and aggressiveness, were captured then taxidermied and painted yellow transforming them into Pokémon Pikachus that were then placed back on the streets as public art.

Video: Duck Sauce - "Big Bad Wolf"
"Big Bad Wolf" is the latest video from Duck Sauce, the duo of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden. While the song dropped some months back and didn’t really catch my attention the video directed by Keith Schofield most certainly has. Featuring A-Trak and Van Helden as dickheads-- literally-- the clip's NSFW.
Video: Lil B - "Unchain Me"
Lil B‘s I’m Gay (I’m Happy), was the closest thing to the rapper releasing an official album this year, it was the most focused collection of songs in his his long list of mixtapes and random releases and was actually “for sale” for very briefly until Lil decided to give it out for free. B officially released a video for one of the standout tracks from I’m Gay, the Clams Casino produced, Lost Boys sampling “Unchain Me,” we shared with you way back in July. Regardless don’t expect anything more professional or exciting than the usual Lil B video as the concept is straight forward letting the tune speak for its self.

Video: We Cut Corners - "Pirate's Life"
Hard work creates results, I always say. Here is a good example of that. Remember when animation was all done by hand? Here is a new music video for the band We Cut Corner, for their track "Pirate's Life". Animator Kijek / Adamski drew every frame by hand also managing to pull off a beautiful water effect. The song is okay but the video is pretty sweet.

Listen: Justice - Helix & Horsepower Remixes
Gaspard and Xavier’s sophomore album Audio,Video,Disco is set to release October 24th. It’s no secret that the record has been available online for a while now and many were left feeling puzzled as they expected something Cross-esque but ended up with a, new dare I say retro sound , that Justice has evolved to. Here are some remixes of "Helix" and "Horsepower" that have surfaced recently bringing back that classic Justice sound.

Show Opening - "Life Cycle" TrustoCorp @ Opera Gallery NYC
TrustoCorp—that secret organization hailing from Brooklyn and known for their cynical product disruptions of signs, monuments, magazines and businesses all around town opened its latest show at Opera Gallery in Soho. The exhibition, titled Life Cycle and on view through November 11, features a few familiar works but mostly brand new pieces falling victim to the groups satire.
There is a dark room that is devoted to vintage arcade games like "Riot Cop" and "Seal Team 6" and on the lower level, the highlight for me, four back-lit light boxes constructed to look like stained glass windows that feature religious denominations as Transformer like robot warriors.
The collective premieres a set of new parody products like cereals "Smore War," "Beaties" and "Choco Spills." For each, the space on a cereal box normally reserved for nutritional information sports pertinent lists: the profits of companies rebuilding countries where America is pursuing wars, the names of known victims of police brutality, and the largest oil spills.
"Botched Operation," a pun on the popular childrens boardgame "Operation," acts as a seething commentary on the healthcare issue in which each of the items to be removed from the life-sized skeleton is a factoid about the American healthcare industry. One piece in the shape of a knife near the figure's throat reads "Cut throat insurance policies (60% of personal bankruptcies in America are due to medical debt)."
While the group doesn’t necessarily offer any solutions to the chosen targets of it’s crosshairs there is enough humor thrown in the serious topics that call to mind a Michael Moore film in that it presents an ugly issue in a fun and digestible manner.
Kaws - Snoopy Vinyl
Kaws news always seems to come in waves, not three days have passed since we brought you news of the seated 4ft Companion making its début in Paris and now this… Brain will be dropping his Peanuts collaboration sometimes next week at both his Original Fake store and Kawsone.com. Not the most exciting of his recent vinyl figures but Snoopy is as iconic as it gets so it’s probably safe to say that the Schultz foundation doesn’t like to see the famous pooch messed with too much... Still it would have been cool if Woodstock came along side.

Show Opening - "Feathers and Wax" Chloe Early & "Abominations" Ryan McLennan @ Joshua Liner Gallery NYC
We previewed Chloe Early & Ryan McLennan’s joint show at New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery last week and as promised I made it to the opening yesterday evening to experience and report on the magic first hand. The work from both Chloe and Ryan was first class and was without a doubt some of the strongest work we have seen from either artist to date. Patrons filled the crowded room brushing shoulders with collectors, friends and art lovers admiring the pieces which will be on view till November 19th. Enjoy the slideshow below and make sure you make it out to the gallery if you are in the NYC area as photos can never do the real thing justice.
