Laptin's "Livin' 4" is actually an edit of a1983 Melba Moore track entitled "Living for your Love". Laptin applies the (over)used Dilla compression technique to a great effect, vacuum-pumping all the right bits and accentuating his hip-hop beat to adrenaline raising levels. However, the resulting aesthetic is more akin to the chillwave sitting-on-my-skateboard-at-the-cinema-multiplex-outdoor-garage-in-the-summer vibe than a stones-throw-colorful-romanticized-ghetto feel.
