Man Wolf shoes....

ManWolf shoes. What can I say,.. a rad commercial for a pair of ugly ass shoes (put out by eS Skate) . The video was put together by Corey Adams & Alex Craig, directors of Machotaildrop (a skateboard-fantasy movie) featuring "The Manwolfs" which came out last year. The commercial hints at what is their next project, Kick To Kill, which is included on DVD with purchase of the shoes.

BONUS! Check out our recent post that features the return of Man Wolf!

Listen: Laptin - Livin' 4

Laptin's "Livin' 4" is actually an edit of a1983 Melba Moore track entitled "Living for your Love".  Laptin applies the (over)used Dilla compression technique to a great effect, vacuum-pumping all the right bits and  accentuating his hip-hop beat to adrenaline raising levels.  However, the resulting aesthetic is more akin to the chillwave sitting-on-my-skateboard-at-the-cinema-multiplex-outdoor-garage-in-the-summer vibe than a stones-throw-colorful-romanticized-ghetto feel.  Wish I still had my walkman.  Listen below:

Jay Reatard’s Terror Visions LP Gets Reissued

I love Jay Reatard's music, when he passed away last year it was a huge loss for fans so it's with some joy to find out that Jay Reatard’s World of Shit, the one and only album from the Memphis rocker’s synth punk project Terror Visions, will be re-released this November. FDH Records, which originally released the album in 2007, plans to reissue the LP on 180-gram vinyl with a gatefold cover. As for the contents, the release will comprise everything Terror Visions ever recorded, including two CDR-only tracks, as well as two previously unreleased songs, one of which is a Brian Eno cover. Enjoy the title track "World Of Shit" below...

Listen: Prurient - "FactMix 266"

Fact Magazine asked Electronic noise artist Prurient aka Dominick Fernow to create a FACT mix showcasing some of the recent techno and electronic music that had inspired him and the conception of his new LP Bermuda Drain, making explicit its links to the kind of industrial and noise gear that he’s long been associated with. He obliged with a 2-hour selection which takes in tracks on his own Hospital Productions label from the likes of Contrepoison, Burning Star Core, Alberich, Lussuria and Vatican Shadow, mosquito-plagued ethno-dread from Shackleton and his beloved Muslimgauze, operatic EBM from Suicide Commando and moody, minimal and industrial techno from Sandwell District‘s Function, Traversable Wormhole and Regis & Female (a classic Downwards cut). There’s room also for the African percussion assault of William Bennett’s Cut Hands, electro-physics from Dopplereffekt, and even the raw demo version of Nine Inch Nails‘ ‘Heresy’.
“I don’t consider Prurient to be music,” he concludes. “It’s more like a collage project. It’s me reassembling and reappropriating and recontextualising anything that fits the mood of negativity.”

"HAMAD" strikes.

Wow..... Taking tagging to the next level, billionaire member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan (aka. Rainbow Sheikh) has dug his name on an island off the coast. It measures close to 2 miles across & a half mile wide and according to Google Earth, appears to be filling slowing from water from the Gulf. Realistically, a big waste of money.. but kinda cool.

Video: Ol’ Dirty Bastard – Dirty Thoughts (Documentary)

When I was in University I worked for the school paper reviewing albums, one issue I reviewed both Dr. Dre’s 2001 Chronic and Ol’ Dirty Bastard Nigga Please. Even though it’s been ten years I still vividly recall a debate I had with several of my classmates over giving ODB’s LP an “A” vs. the “B” I gave Dr. Dre’s LP. I’m glad I defended my position because in hindsight it’s clear to see that Ol’ Dirty Bastard was one of the most charismatic, unique rappers ever, his flow was one of a kind and I still regularly give his records a spin. As for the good Dr.? I still dig Dre but I haven’t thought or cared about 2001 Chronic since 2001.   Enjoy the documentary below that takes a look behind Ol’ Dirt and his music.
