Video: The Antlers – “Hotel”

Wow I didn’t actually realize the new Antlers album Familiars wasn’t officially out yet, it literally leaked two months ago; but for those who still follow the practices of yesteryear’s music experience you can start getting excited as the official June 17th drop is drawing ever near. Directed by Derrick Belcham, "Hotel" marks the second set of visuals from the LP, we shared the first in March for “Palace” and while the visuals come from different people both clips fit in the same universe.

The Antlers will be returning to the scene with their fourth album titled Familiars on June 17th. The record was recorded, produced, and engineered by the band and our first taste comes from lead single and video, “Palace,” which sticks with a sound that fans should be familiar with. Directed by Hana Tajima.

The Antlers have gifted an orchestral re-imagination of their track sublime track “No Widows” from last year’s Onomatopoeia favorite Burst Apart. “Empty Castles (No Widows refracted)” was created by cellist Brent Arnold, who says of the track:

“I knew I wanted to work with this track as soon as I heard it. The lyrics really haunted me. I recorded many of the cellos in a library in a castle in Burgundy… no joke! I had in mind a kind of rolling, pulsing feeling, rising and falling. Everything I made is of course quite different than the original, except for the big harmonies in the chorus– for that part, I tried to tease out each layer of vocals and play them exactly on the cello, which was tricky as they’re very intertwined. But I wanted to be more literal there, because there’s something very special about the way those lines work together.”

The Antlers debuted their new James Case Leal directed video for “Drift Dive" alongside a Facebook note  which tied into the current storm situation on the East Coast…

"Considering all that's just happened in NYC, today is a strange day to debut our new video, but it feels oddly appropriate too James Case-Leal created this beautiful piece to accompany 'Drift Dive'. We hope it provides you with some comfort in the face of all this devastation. We love you, New York."

Antlers video "Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out"

The Antlers released the first video "Every Night My Teeth are Falling Out" from their stellar new album Burst Apart. The video was directed by Juliet Rios and Gabe Imlay and if you haven't picked up the album yet hopefully this will convince you to.
