Video: alt-J - "Every Other Freckle"

More catching up this morning, this time with Brit rockers alt-J, who in three weeks will release their sophomore album, This Is All YoursThe band apparently decided that their single “Every Other Freckle” needed not one but two Olivier Groulx  directed video’s, which I believe is something they have done in the past.

The clips are nearly identical, save for the main characters, one focuses on a boy while the other highlights a girl. This Is All Yours is due out September 22 but you know you can already find it if you so desire on this thing called the internet.

Listen: Alt-J - "Every Other Freckle"

Alt-J provides yet another official sneak peak at their forthcoming sophomore LP This Is All Yours, set to drop on September 22. “Every Other Freckle,” is the third single—following ”Hunger of the Pine” and Left Hand Free;” each song thus far exploring  its own unique vibe.  This time around the drums make me picture a Native American tribe as the song starts to break down around 1:33 in.

Video: Alt-J – “Left Hand Free”

I shared an audio stream of alt-J’s  “Left Hand Free” a month ago and as the band nears the release date of their sophomore LP, This Is All Yours, an accompanying video has made its way onto the internet today. The Ryan Staake directed-visuals capture a group of friends enjoying the summer, look for the LP to drop on September 22nd.

Video: Alt-J – “Hunger Of The Pine”

Alt-J are releasing their forthcoming sophomore album This Is All Yours this fall, and so far we’ve heard shared two selections from the record. The first was “Hunger Of The Pine,” which now has a graphic Nabil-directed video to accompany it.

Listen: Alt-J – “Left Hand Free”

After sharing “Hunger of The Pine” a couple weeks back Alt-J have shared a second tune from their forthcoming sophomore LP, This Is All Yours, due out on September 22. “Left Hand Free” is quite a bit different from the band’s established sound, dare I say there is a country/blues vibe happening here and less pockets of space in the song’s composition then we are used to hearing from the English band.  What say’s you?  Is it progression or is the change due to the departure of founding member Gwil Sainsbury?

Listen: Alt-J – “Hunger Of The Pine”

Nice, I was really jonesing for some non hip-hop/electronic music and this new Alt-J tune by the name of “Hunger Of the Pine” fit the bill perfectly today. The track will appear on the band's sophomore album, This Is All Yours, out on Sept. 22.

Bassist Gwil Sainsbury left the group making the quartet a trio but their sound most certainly remains intact.

The song, which features a sample of Miley Cyrus singing "I'm a female rebel" from her song "4x4," is, according to Gus Unger-Hamilton, "composed entirely of new and spontaneous ideas that arose during writing sessions for the second album. It was written very quickly using some guitar chords and sounds being layered on Ableton, and seemed to signal a bit of a new sound for us. The lyrics mainly suggest the idea that missing someone — pining — can be a physical pain much like hunger."
