At this point you probably know the deal, this is ninety tracks at five and a half hours representing sounds from the past, present and future along with some remixes and exclusives that span a multitude of genera’s.

Video: The Icarus Line – “Solar Plexus”

The Icarus Line continue to be a criminally overlooked band, unfortunately I don’t really see that changing any time soon given the musical climate of the last 5 years or so, but for those who are looking for a good dose of psychedelic punk rock that adds some Nick Cave and Stooges take note.

"Solar Plexus" is the latest song to be shared from the bands forthcoming LP, All Things Under Heaven, due October 2^nd via American Primitive and it’s got a video shot by Aric Lorton to boot.

Purchase the limited edition vinyl release from Rough Trade here and make sure to check the band out live if you get a chance, I’ve seen them 6 times over the years and its always a good time. Was looking forward to seeing them this Friday at Saint Vitus but the show was canceled for some reason.

Wow it’s been six months since I last shared a new playlist, it was October, almost Halloween and the long winter was just about to get started with us. Well It’s late April now and we are starting to hit those much needed sunny days so it only seemed right I buckle down and finish this extended edition to make up for the long gap with something to play on those outdoor adventures and road trips.  Online Dating is what I’m calling Vol.6 in the series and its an eclectic eighty-eight song long mix including five and a half hours of music from the past, present and future, spanning a wide range of genera’s that's sure to have a little something for every internet personality.

Listen: Zu - "Corta Tordo" (Full LP Stream)

Italian noise act Zu are gearing up to drop their fifth record via Ipecac Recordings on March 24^th. Corta Tordo was recorded in Bologna, Italy and for those not acquainted with the bands sound it’s a combination of atmospheric, heavy, sludgy moments (Think Melvins) and super chaotic outbursts (Think The Locust). While I wouldn’t compare them in sound, people who found themselves enjoying the last Deafheaven record unexpectedly might have a similar experience with Tordo, as there are some hypnotic moments wrapped up in otherwise abrasive compositions. Give the record a spin below…

Listen: These Arms Are Snakes - "Energy Drink And The Long Walk Home"

These Arms Are Snakes are no more but we are still getting some music from the outfit including b-sides, alternate takes and a new song by the name of “Energy Drink And The Long Walk Home.” The song officially appears on a split 7” with the Coathangers that came out on Friday but if you didn’t catch it you can give it a spin below…

On a related note Brian Cook recently opened up about a possible Botch reunion, Brian has always said no way but recently revealed that his band mates told him to stop saying that.

Listen: Faith No More – “Motherfucker”

Leave it to Faith No More to return with their first new music since 1998 and go with a name like “Motherfucker” for their lead single. Bassist Bill Gould will be producing the record himself which will be recorded in the band's Oakland rehearsal space and released on their own imprint, Reclamation Records.

“Motherfucker” is a song about accountability so the band’s approach of handling the record internally hits the nail on the head, as does the soaring chorus of motherfucker being repeated in a radiant manner by lead singer Mike Patton.

"Motherfucker" will be released as a seven-inch single on Record Store Day Black Friday, November 28. The record, limited to 5,000 copies, will feature a B-side remix of the track courtesy of  J.G. Thirlwell

It’s been about four months since I last shared a new playlist, it was June,  hot,  and New Yorker’s were out in full force doing their seasonal impression of someone who has always loved hiking and mountain biking before opting to move to a city that's totally inappropriate for either.  But hey, we all like to live out a fantasy from time to time and what better represents that then Halloween? So in celebration of all things make believe here is volume 5 in the series, “ /həˈbiləmənt/". The festive mix includes over three and a half hours of music from the past, present and future, spanning a wide range of genera’s alongside a healthy dose of remixes, mashups and exclusives that should help move some asses come the 31st.

Video: Cloud Nothings – “Now Hear It”

Just so no one accuses me of dropping our rock coverage in favor of all the beat driven music, here is a new video from Cloud Nothings. “Now Hear it,” which may or may not appear on the last Onomatopoeia Playlist Series edition, looks like what would happen if you mashed together old VHS footage with the Arcade Fire’s current obsession with papier-mâché bobble head masks. Maybe in the case of the Cloud Nothings, with an extra sprinkle of paranoia on top.  The clip was directed by Carpark labelmate Toro Y Moi’s touring guitarist Jordan Blackmon and follows Toro Y Moi bassist Patrick Jeffords as he travels around various scenic California locales.

Video: Mineral - "Live @ St. Vitus" (Full Set)

Emo veterans Mineral were only around from 1994 to 1997, having broken up before the release of their second and final album, EndSerenading, but like many bands from the era they recently reformed for some live shows, including a handful in NYC last week.

Brooklyn's Saint Vitus plaid host to the Texas troop’s first night which saw the influential group play a 17 minute set filled with fan favorites that you can now enjoy from below if your town isn't playing host to the very short tour, and don't worry they do play “Parking Lot.”

Video: alt-J - "Every Other Freckle"

More catching up this morning, this time with Brit rockers alt-J, who in three weeks will release their sophomore album, This Is All Yours.  The band apparently decided that their single “Every Other Freckle” needed not one but two Olivier Groulx  directed video’s, which I believe is something they have done in the past.

The clips are nearly identical, save for the main characters, one focuses on a boy while the other highlights a girl. This Is All Yours is due out September 22 but you know you can already find it if you so desire on this thing called the internet.

As previously reported L.A. band, The Neighbourhood, are gearing up to release a rock mixtape in the near future. I spoke of the importance of this at the time so I won't bore you doing so again, instead I will share a new track from the project which features Danny Brown. “Hate Machine” seamlessly fuses both artists’ worlds together, which only makes sense considering how vocal the Neighbourhood are about being avid hip hop fans, stream it below to form your own opinions…

Death from Above 1979 are back in full force. Besides a new overdue sophomore LP, titled The Physical World, the band will also be embarking on a world tour which saw its first warm-up date Last night in Los Angeles. According to reports the Canadian duo handed out CD’s featuring another new track to those who attended; and because we live in a day and age where someone can fart out an idea in the Congo with the expectations it will be received in New York within seconds, fans who couldn't make it to the gig can now also stream “Government Trash” from below...

Arcade Fire shared the video for Reflektor's "You Already Know". It features the band performing alongside some “magical” paintings who take over vocal duties as Win films.

Alt-J provides yet another official sneak peak at their forthcoming sophomore LP This Is All Yours, set to drop on September 22. “Every Other Freckle,” is the third single—following ”Hunger of the Pine” and “Left Hand Free;” each song thus far exploring  its own unique vibe.  This time around the drums make me picture a Native American tribe as the song starts to break down around 1:33 in.

Tomahawk are back with a new Vincent Forcier music video for Oddfellows tune “South Paw.” The clip see’s the band member’s transformed into puppets, something that I’m kind of surprised Mike Patton and crew haven’t done before as it fits the bands sense of humor to a T.
