Say what you will about the absolute onslaught of independently minded pop tunes that have been flooding the music scene in the last couple of years, it most certainly can be a time consuming task to navigate through all of it to find something worthwhile but it’s important to note that there can be no doubt that collectively these sounds are slowly but surely chipping away at the subconscious of the mainstream listener and blurring the lines of the easily accessible and a more avant-garde approach.
L.A. band Kitten shared some new music and visuals for a tune called “Money” which exemplifies my thought process above, clearly pulling influences from people like Arca and the rest of Kanye’s Yeezus production team, the tune incorporates a pretty accessible beat with some touches of noise to satisfy both parties. Ariel Pink is also featured in the clip which see’s Kitten's Chloe Chaidez hanging out in a L.A. hotel getting wet, smoking, drinking and having some fun. Directed by Kaitlin Christy on a shoe string budget of $300.
