Much like the last time I shared a new playlist six whole months
have gone by so it’s gonna be another long one for y’all with volume 7,
entitled Tout de suite. At this point you probably know the deal, this is ninety
tracks at five and a half hours representing sounds from the past, present and
future along with some remixes and exclusives that span a multitude of genera’s.

Experimental electronic producer Arcashared some new music from his forthcoming record titled Mutant earlier this
week. “Soichiro” is a wild ride of glitchy, scattery percussion and twisted
synth sounds juxtaposed in moments of stark, minimal hums and swooshes.
Mutant does not currently have an official release date but
should be out before year’s end.
Tame Impala shared a video for Currents cut "Let
it Happen". The tune might be my overall favorite on the excellent record
and the video captures the mood of the song quite well, although this is a
radio edit which kind of bums be out since it is such a killer tune. The band
team up with David Wilson to handle directing duties again for this frightening journey
into one man’s mind.
My man Clarence Clarity dropped a new video on us earlier
this morning for NO NOW cut, “Will To Believe.” The clip was directed by Vinyl Williams and like the fantastic song keeps things jittery and jerky. There will be a follow up to the clip that is completely interactive but what that entails exactly and when it will drop are still a mystery to me. NO NOW
continues to be my favorite album of 2015, certainly the most adventurous; so if
glitchy alternative R&B sounds like your thing, or perhaps you just want to hear something different, then make sure to check the album
out in full.
Some new live remix’s to share this evening, well
technically something new and something old. I originally laid down “The Blank
Beat” back in January of 2014 but sat on it; LL Cool Jdoes his thing over Taylor Swift’s

Death Grips’ new
video for “Powers That B”
juxtapositions the bands extreme sound with the very mundane act of cleaning a
floor. If that doesn’t excite you, don’t worry you’re not alone, but it falls
in-line with what the band does, bringing home video into the mix and letting
the music tell the story.
Here is something kinda funny, try muting the track and
throwing up some pop music, video ends up looking like a montage in some feel-good
film.
Wow it’s been six months since I last shared a new playlist, it was October, almost Halloween and the long winter was
just about to get started with us. Well It’s late April now and we are starting
to hit those much needed sunny days so it only seemed right I buckle down and finish
this extended edition to make up for the long gap with something to play on those outdoor adventures and road trips.Online Dating is what I’m calling Vol.6 in
the series and its an eclectic eighty-eight song long mix including five

The new Clarence Clarity LP, No Now is without a doubt one
of my favorite records from the last couple of years; I've already made push to
get it heard by more people, and I hope my efforts thus far have worked on a handful
of you at least. "Buck Toothed
Particle Smashers," is the latest memorable tune from the record to get
the video treatment; in the clip a collage of VHS projections act as the
breeding ground to a series of figures who jerk and jolt to the glitchy rhythms
provided by the singer/producer.
I’ve been sitting on this bad boy for a hot minute now
waiting for today to hit; wouldn’t you know I got so busy with work I almost
forgot to do the post all together which would have really bummed me out all
things considered.
So it’s Tax Day, most folks hate it, I love it because it’s
cash in my pocket but regardless of what side of the line you fall on this live remix of Danny Brown’s “Lie4” with Hucci’s “Sheild” is up for streaming and
free to download, I hope y’all enjoy it and get some smiles when filing that
paper work!

Death Grips have just shared the video for "I
Break Mirrors With My Face in the United States", from their upcoming
album Jenny Death, which coincidentally is fantastic for those who haven't heard
it in one form or another yet. Like much of the groups output the video and
song are seemingly an exercise in how to be intense!
UK based producer Clarence Clarity (named after the popular meme) recently dropped his debut LP, No Now, via Bella Union. The reception has been pretty much nonexistent thus far which is surprising to me because the record is a brave and impressive hour plus journey into a distinctively dense and cacophonous re-imagining of pop and R&B music.
You may be thinking to yourself oh this is another ethereal bedroom R&B producer who’s married traditionally commercial themes with dramatic, sleek, minimal, dark, undertones to satisfy those who prefer their smoothness to mirror Autre Ne Veut over something like Jodeci? Well I’m here to tell you that while Clarence clearly knows what the Autre Ne Veut and How To Dress Well’s of the universe are doing with their takes on the genre, this is not that, this is maximalist, disjointed and glitchy, this is taking that idea of mixing 70% of that traditional R&B flavor with 30% experimenting and reversing the percentages so that the experimentation is now at 70%. No Now probably shares more in common sonically with the Animal Collectiveand is very much here and now, it completely encapsulates the all consuming nature of the Internet and the overwhelming beauty and ugliness it can sometimes create in today's society.
The unique take isn’t the result of production alone; Clarence’s eccentric vocal delivery will catch some off-guard and like last year’s FKA Twigs record, must have been extremely difficult to even pull off in these nontraditional musical environments. But somehow it all works and it all works extremely well in my opinion, providing the listener with one of the most original records I’ve heard in recent memory that could function on both a dance-floor and at home.
I hope people get to hear the record, it dropped earlier in the month and I haven’t really heard or seen much about it, which is why I’m even sharing a post that is closer to a record review than a heads up to readership that I usually would provide at this point. Get a taste of No Now from the five track sampler below and if you like what you hear pick up a digital copy from the usual places or a special edition physical copy from Rough Trade that also includes the instrumentals.

Shlohmo’s new album Dark Red is scheduled to
drop on April 7 via True Panther/WeDidIt and with that date swiftly
approaching, Shlohmo has returned with his next video and single. Jack Irving directs
the video for “Beams” which matches the fast paced drum & bass roots the single
lives in.
I’m off to conduct a secret mission up north for a bit so I
thought before leaving why not share another exclusive I’ve been sitting on

Shlohmo teams up with directorLance Drake for forthcoming
LP Dark Red’s first video. “Buried” is a very bleak clip that goes exceptionally
well with the producer’s dark and moody tune. Shlohmo has said the record is intended to be”
devastating and violent” and I would say tone has definitely been set.
The viewer is taken on a six minute journey whose lead
character is a distraught pregnant woman giving birth on the streets of LA. The
whole thing has an 80’s John Carpenter type grit to it that fits like a glove. Look for Dark Red to drop on April 7th via
True Panther.
Hu₵₵i dropped a new EP titled 404 earlier in the week that
I’ve been enjoying quite a bit on the ol’ headphones. Even though the Brighton
producer calls the release an EP it is twenty-two tracks and over an hour
long.You can grab the whole thing right
now for a name your own price exchange, but it be worth it even at retail
price. Plenty of killer tracks, including some I’ve shared in the past. New
early highlights for me include "Mula" and late album cuts “Thir$t” and “Moon.”Give it a spin below and pick the whole thing up

A new video from Tri Angle recording artist Vessel popped up
yesterday. "Drowned in Water and Light" appears on last year's Punish,
Honey, the NSFW clip was directed by Pedro Maia, and reads like
a home porno art film of sorts which kind of seems to be a theme for the
visuals off the record thus far. Check

at The Wick in Brooklyn.
Right after dropping his latest offering “Computer
Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2 EP,” Aphex Twin, or someone
close to him, went ahead and shared 110 various free demos, yes that’s
right one hundred and ten songs. Clearly Richard saw that there is interest in
his music still,as its seemingly woken a sleepinggiant in regards to the amount of music he

Welcome to Onomatopoeia’s year-end best of 2014, I am a little late but still here so thanks for the patience. I feel like I'm starting to sound like a broken record but 2014 truly was an abysmal year for music. To be fair it wasn't so much a bad year for music as it was for the album format. To say it was difficult for me to even compose a list of thirteen would be a huge understatement.
My process usually begins around September, I try and get the ball rolling and start making a list with what I've really enjoyed in the months leading up to this moment. I had something like seven albums listed with only three months to go. So rather than force a full list I made sure to go back to everything I remember enjoying but not necessarily loving and re-exploring them in greater detail. In the end I did find thirteen releases that I felt happy with along with a solid honorable mentions section.
For those who frequent this space most of the material should be familiar, I don't know if there are too many surprises but as always I hope some of you get something new out of it.
It’s been about two years since Lapalux’s debute album, Nostalchic,
landed on the scene so I was pleasantly surprised earlier this week when I
found a press release for a sophomore Lapalux LP and tune waiting in my mail
box. Lustmore is on its way later this year and according to the producer it
follows a theme that is “a kind of limbo of consciousness between being awake
and asleep.” Lead single “Closure” which features Szjerdene on vocals over some
clouded beats illustrates the vision
quite well, give it a spin below and if you like what you hear make sure to
