Listen/Download: Sufjan Stevens’ Christmas Rap Mixtape “Chopped and Scrooged”

Well this is one of the more random things I’ve seen in a while. Continuing with the Christmas spirit Sufjan Stevens dropped a Christmas-themed hip-hop mixtape featuring music from his recently released 5-EP Christmas box set, Silver & Gold. The mixtape is called Chopped and Scrooged(HEY HO!) and features Das Racist, Kitty Pryde, Nicky Da B, and Busdriver, with production by John Dieterich of Deerhoof, Fol Chen, Son Lux, and more. As we reported back in December LA-based hiphop artist Busdriver will be releasing his new album entitled Beaus$Eros February 14th, it’s the 7th studio album for the rapper and we have some more details we can share along with a track. As a part of the pre-order package just announced, those who order the cd or double vinyl edition of the album in advance also receive Shirt, a book of original poetry by Busdriver, as well as a limited edition 7″ that features ”Superhand’s Mantra (F**k Us All),” his collaboration with Aesop Rock which you can listen to below…

Video: Busdriver - "Kiss Me Back to Life"

LA-based hiphop artist Busdriver will be releasing a new album mid-February entitled Beaus$Eros and a new video for the album's track "Kiss Me Back to Life" has been released. It is directed by Chris Coats of the video collective, The Masses, and is a sweet little blacklight nightmare of a visual many are comparing to old Busta Rhymes vids.

I like the track and am interested to hear more as it sounds like Busdriver is taking a more melodic route (ala. TV on the Radio) as opposed to straight up speed rap. Hope to see more videos from this album soon.
