Video: Crystal Castles – “Affection”

Crystal Castles dropped some visuals for one of my top tracks of 2012, the haunting “Affection.” Made up of tour footage in Buenos Aires Argentina, you can check out both the video and a more detailed description of the process below…

“The video for the single is an abstract tour documentary filmed after shows in Buenos Aires, Argentina (Apr 4 2013) and Bogotá, Colombia (Apr 7 2013). Alice was filmed by Ethan, Crystal Castles filmed by Chris Chartrand (the bands live drummer), and Ashley McMinn was filmed by Marc Pannozzo (long time Crystal Castles video collaborator). The footage was then stitched together in London by Stephen Agnew (Editor & Video Glitch Artist).

Listen: Crystal Castles -"III" Full LP Stream

We’ve got a full stream of the new Crystal Castles LP, III, available for your listening pleasure. This was one of my more anticipated releases of 2012 so I’ve been listening to it a bunch the last couple of days. I would say III is closer to the duo’s second album more so than their first, further distancing themselves from the electronic noise that was characteristic of their earlier music, in favor of melody and straight up singing in some cases. That being said there still are some tunes that embrace the Crystal Castles sound of yesteryear and I have always equally enjoyed both sides of the band so it’s win win if you are of the same opinion as me. If anything I would say this record embraces that late 90’s techno sound more than ever but always with that unique CC twist to it that makes it their own.

Listen: Crystal Castles – “Wrath of God”

Crystal Castles will be releasing a new album this November and we recently shared a video of a new tune entitled "Plague" that will appear on it. Today, as promised we got a second cut from the lP for you to hear in the form of “Wrath of God” which is another bleak slice of electronic goodness from the duo.

Video: Crystal Castles - "Plague"

Crystal Castles will be releasing a new album this November, we recently shared a stream of a new tune entitled "Plague" and today we can share a video for it. Intense stuff with this one as a woman who is seemingly possessed shakes and convulses violently in a subway station pathway. Originally created by a fan of the band, Ivan Grbin, Crystal Castles liked it so much, they decided to make it the official video. It uses captured footage from the 1981 Andrzej Zulawski film Possession. In more news from the band we will be hearing a new single entitled “Wrath of God” this Wednesday as well.

Listen/Download: Crystal Castles - "Plague"

Another nice surprise this week comes from Crystal Castles who just dropped a brand new tune entitled "Plague." The tune will presumably appear on their upcoming album that is as yet to be titled. The duo’s last effort was one of my favorite albums in 2010 and still gets a lot of play from me, for whatever reason most people I know didn’t really like it and thought the first was better, to those people I still say your'e fucking crazy. Stream and download the tune below….

Listen: Crystal Castles - "Suffocation" (HEALTH Remix)

On Tuesday we shared the video for Crystal Castles’ “Suffocation” off of their stellar 2010 self titled sophomore LP .Today we got more good stuff coming your way with a remix of the track from the mighty LA noise band, HEALTH. Both these groups have released some of my favorite albums in the last decade, often working and touring together; let’s hope the collaborations keep coming.

Video: Crystal Castles – “Suffocation”

Crystal Castles are still dropping videos from their very excellent self titled sophomore LP that came out in 2010. The duo are currently working on their latest full length which is due out sometimes in the summer of 2012. I for one have absolutely no problem still getting some treats from yesteryear as this record was one of my favorites two years ago and still gets lots of play time. Check out the visuals for “Suffocation” directed by Crystal Castles Ethan Kath HERE.
