Video: Childish Gambino – ‘Sweatpants”

Childish Gambino released a video for “Sweatpants”, a standout tune from his 2013 album, Because The Internet. The video has an unsettling mood as the visuals continuously loop, each rerun introducing another copy of the emcee who eventually replaces everyone in the diner setting. Directed by Hiro Murai with a  shout out at 2:23.

Video: Childish Gambino - “The Worst Guys”

Childish Gambino recently released his latest LP, Because The Internet, and with it we get a new video for “The Worst Guys.” The tune and video feature Chicago it-guy of the moment Chance The Rapper, who we of course were blogging about back in 2012 when I included his #10 Day mixtape as one of my albums of the year. The guys keep it laid back as they spend a day at the beach which is where I would rather be at the moment. Directed by Kyle Newacheck.

Video: Childish Gambino – “3005”

Mr. Entertainment aka Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, dropped the official music video for the track “3005″ off of his upcoming album Because the Internet. The visuals feature the emcee going around and around on a ferris wheel with a teddy bear as his date. Look for Childish Gambino’s sophomore label effort to drop on Tuesday, December 10th. You can head over to itunes to stream it now or like many fans look for the leaked copy that dropped last week before you buy an official copy.

Childish Gambino has shared a new track from his forthcoming LP, Because The Internet, entitled “Worldstar.” Presumably the title is referencing the famous hip hop site of the same name. Regardless more progression from the multi-talented Glover and one of the many leaks I’m sure we will be enjoying before the December 10th release date.

Video: Childish Gambino – “Clapping For the Wrong Reasons” Feat. Flying lotus, Chance The Rapper, Trinidad Jame$ & more.

After teasing at such a project several weeks back  we now have the director’s cut of Childish Gambino’s 24-minute short film titled “Clapping For The Wrong Reasons” The short features  Donald himself, Chance The Rapper, Flying Lotus, Trinidad Jame$, and several other Gambino collaborators and friends . The film falls someplace in-between truth and fiction it would seem with parts functioning as a preview of sorts to new Gambino music while other moments seem to focus on scripted narrative about life, relationships, dreams and more. Things get pretty strange during the last third when Gambino pulls a tooth out of his nostril in a scene that wouldn't be out of place in a horror film. Weird stuff but well worth the watch if you are a fan and another interesting chapter from Glover’s creative repertoire.

It’s been a minute since we heard anything new from Childish Gambino and having recently announced that he would be cutting back on acting to focus on music we get a taste of what’s to come with “Centipede.” It’s a pretty long track clocking in at six minutes but Gambino most certainly makes good use of the time production wise as the track changes in tone several times in its course. Childish Gambino released the video for Camp track “L.E.S.” The clip only see’s Gambino in a cameo like appearance and instead features images of people enjoying a night out in as the title states, New York City’s Lower East Side.

Throwback Thursday’s: McDJ Mixtapes (Childish Gambino)

Another Throwback Thursday is here and with it some more goodies to share. This week we got nine mixtapes for you to download for absolutely free, that’s right count em’  that’s  one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine!  While we have shared plenty of music from Donald Glover under his hip hop moniker, Childish Gambino, we haven’t really discussed his DJ alter ego, mcDJ. Keep in mind that this isn’t unreleased or remixed Childish Gambino material, these are DJ mix’s that Donald has put together over the years that jump between a variety of music from rap to rock to electronic to indie and more, showcasing a different side of the talented Renaissance man.  If you don’t have some of these or even any of them well you are all caught up now because to my knowledge these are all of them.

Childish Gambino returns to his commercial release Camp for his latest video “Fire Fly.” Donald himself only makes an indirect appearance in the video instead enlisting actors to portray the narrative which has got a 90’s action vibe to it ala Hackers.
