Video: Wye Oak – “Glory”

Baltimore-based duo, Wye Oak, have shared a video from their new album, Shriek, which dropped yesterday. “Glory”, directed by Michael Patrick O'Leary and Ashley North Compton, plays with choppy editing techniques to give parts of the video an uneasy stop motion feel.

Listen: Flock of Dimes – “Curtain”


Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner is releasing her second 7″ single with her Flock of Dimes side project on Merge Records next month. “Curtain” is the single’s a-side. Wasner described the lyrics as documenting “the thoughtless, obsessed joy of new love.”  There is a lot going on in the tune but it all works very well together; the single is limited to 1,000 copies so get one from Merge while you still can.

Listen: Wye Oak – “Spiral”


Following their acclaimed full length effort Civilian last year, Baltimore’s Wye Oak have released a new and rather different track then we are accustomed to hearing from the duo in “Spiral.”  Those who have been keeping up with the Oak know that Jenn Wasner started up a solo project and has contributed  a slew of guest appearances on albums by Sharon Van Etten and Future Islands but it’s been a while since we’ve heard from WyeOak as a group and the somewhat 80’s sounding “Spiral” leaves me wondering if this is a new sound or a one off experiment?
