Video: Duck Sauce – “NRG”

Duck Sauce kill it with yet another super fun video, this time for the appropriately titled, high energy tune, “NRG.” The clip was directed by Dugan O'Neal and reminds me of a scene from the film Requiem For A Dream if it took place in a much happier world; A-Trak and Van Helden go from watching some late night TV infomercials to staring in them alongside actor Jon C. Daly.

Listen: Duck Sauce – “Quack” Full LP

A-Trak and Armand Van Helden have been busy the last couple of years building up a sound and fan base for their playful dance floor project, Duck Sauce. The appropriately titled Quack, which is out April 15th via A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold label, can now be streamed below in its entirety. Get them dancing shoes out as this one is sure to please all the filter-disco fans out there during those hot summer nights, highlights for myself include "Chariots Of The Gods," ""Radio Stereo" and "NRG".

Video: Phonat - “Ride the Prejudice”

Italy’s Phonat released a new EP by the name of Identity Theft last week, his first new material since 2009’s super fun self-titled LP.  “Ride the Prejudice” is pretty representative of the 6 song ep’s sound which most certainly has changed in the four years since said LP dropped but is every bit as enjoyable. The video is made up of some 3d animation that matches the whimsy of the song.

Listen" Fred Falke - "Part IV" LP Stream

One of my all time favorite producers in house music is French based German Fred Falke, he started his career as a bass player around 1995 and started his production work in the late 90's working with another one of my hero’s Alan Braxe. Fred finally released his début album this month and much like Braxe’s first lp from several years ago it is compiled with all his classics from yesteryear as well as some new gems. Even though Fred is in high demand for his remix work, and there are many out there, he kept this collection to all original material, check out the full album stream of Part IV below…

Listen: Phonat - "Fall Mix 2011"

I’m a big fan of relatively unknown Italian electro producer Phonat, his 2008 self titled LP still gets lots of millage from me and I’ve been looking for an excuse to post something from the man so it was with great pleasure that he dropped this free mix today entitled “Fall Mix 2011.” No track list that I know of but the mix features artists such as Eumig & Chinon, Russ Chimes, Teenage Bad Girl, Siriusmo and of course some of Phonat's music, enjoy…

Phonat Mix Fall 2011 by MofoHifi Records

Now that I got your attention I have an excuse to throw up my all time favorite tune for the man, old track but probably new to most folks and it's a scorcher!

SebastiAn Interview

SebastiAn released one of my favorite albums this year, Total, and Spinner recently cought up with the producer to talk about the recordings process, his influences, the iconic cover art and more.

"Though credited as the creator of the "Ed Banger sound" by the label's founder and former Daft Punk manager, Pedro "Busy P" Winter, SebastiAn has always remained somewhat on the outskirts of the scene.

Born Sebastian Akchoté of Bosnian-Serb heritage in Boulogne, a town in Northern France, SebastiAn found his way to the Paris headquarters of Ed Banger by making a random cold call to its office. He quickly made a name for himself via his remixes of Daft Punk,
Uffie and Cut Copy, but did not cultivate his image in the same manner as some of his cohorts.

Touring with Daft Punk in 2007, SebastiAn maintained a low profile within the raucous, vodka-Red Bull-infused new face of "French Touch," spearheaded by label mates
Justice. He waited until 2009 to make his live debut, while releasing four EP's and two remix compilations, in the interim.

Though the Ed Banger sound was gradually supplanted by disco beards and bass wobble, SebastiAn has returned to dance floors with an eclectic new album, 'Total,' which features appearances by
M.I.A. and Mayer Hawthorne and a remix by DJ Premier. Spinner sat down with the soft-spoken French producer, who appears engaged in an open-mouthed kiss with himself on the cover of the album, to talk about his hip-hop roots, heavy-metal influences and inevitable comparisons to Justice."
