As previously reported Trevor Powers is gearing up to drop
his latest LP, Savage Hills Ballroom on September 25th. Our second
taste of the LP, and first video, comes in the form of “Highway Patrol Stun Gun.”
The song was inspired by the hailstorm of police brutality that’s been on many
peoples mind this last year and the isolation he feels living so far removed
from it. Directed by Kendy Ty.

Listen: Youth lagoon - "The Knower"
It’s been so long since I we have heard anything from YouthLagoon. Trevor Powers returned to the Internet this week with news of his first
new music since 2013. “The Knower,” starts out simple enough with a somber
barebones approach but then gets quite jittery and closes things off with some
orchestration that would make Beirut proud; good stuff. Savage Hills Ballroom is due on September 25th.

Video: San Fermin – “Jackrabbit”
San Fermin returns to the scene tomorrow with a new LP by
the name of Jackrabbit. I was a big fan of Ellis Ludwig-Leone’s last offering a
couple years back, the record actually made my year-end list and Jackrabbit
continues down the same chamber-pop path laid out in 2013. Ellis is still the
acting writer/composer for all the material but the eight-member group will be
joining for the tour that kicks off this Thursday. The title track is definitely a
highlight on the record that I’ve played to death in the last couple weeks and
should please those who fell in love with previous offering like “Sonsick.” In
the video that was released today vocalist Charlene Kaye runs through the hillsides with two K9’s in hot pursuit.

Video: Son Lux - "Easy"
“Easy” is one of many highlights from Son Lux’s 2013 album Lanterns,
I believe it appears on either our first or second edition of the Onomatopoeia Playlist Series so you know I’m a fan. Director David Terry Fine’s video keeps things
moody and dark for the tasteful sorta NSFW video.

Listen: My Brightest Diamond – “Lover/Killer”
“Lover/Killer,” is the new single from My Brightest Diamond’s upcoming album This is My Hand, out September 16 via Asthmatic Kitty
Records. Like her previous work the track is grounded in theatrical pop not
unlike Sufjan Stevens or St. Vincent who of course all share space in the same
universe and have worked and toured together in the past.

Video: Son Lux - "Lanterns Lit"
Son Lux shared a new cinematic video, today, for his
Lanterns LP track “Lanterns Lit.” Directed and produced by SJ Finlay the music
video was made while shooting a short film to help children at risk in South
East Asia. To keep updated about the release of that film and the project,

Video: Son Lux – “Build A Pyre (Begin Again)”
Been missing in action the last couple of weeks working on
various projects and enjoying some of the lovely weather out here in NYC.
Honestly you haven't missed much as I’ve been keeping my eye on things and it’s
been same old same old on the internet.
Son Lux's jittery new video for the song "Build A
Pyre" off of the Alternate Worlds EP is made up of flickering images of fire,
ash, and the occult, with the added visage of a mysterious woman giving the already
nervous visuals an added creepy stop/go animation feel. Directed by GeoffHoskinson.

Video: Son Lux – “Alternate Worlds”
Ryan Lott, aka Son Lux, released his latest video in the form of “Alternate Worlds” today. The song appears on one of my favorite albums from 2013, Lanterns, which if you haven’t had a chance to spin yet you most certainly should as it is a beautifully complex record filled with many moving moments. Truman & Cooper direct the emotionally charged video which is quite effective in that I most certainly got depressed watching it.
