Video” Youth Lagoon – “Highway Patrol Stun Gun”

As previously reported Trevor Powers is gearing up to drop his latest LP, Savage Hills Ballroom on September 25th. Our second taste of the LP, and first video, comes in the form of “Highway Patrol Stun Gun.” The song was inspired by the hailstorm of police brutality that’s been on many peoples mind this last year and the isolation he feels living so far removed from it. Directed by Kendy Ty.

Listen: Youth lagoon - "The Knower"

It’s been so long since I we have heard anything from YouthLagoon. Trevor Powers returned to the Internet this week with news of his first new music since 2013. “The Knower,” starts out simple enough with a somber barebones approach but then gets quite jittery and closes things off with some orchestration that would make Beirut proud; good stuff. Savage Hills Ballroom is due on September 25th.

Video: Youth Lagoon – “Raspberry Cane”

Trevor Powers unleashed the latest set of visuals from 2013’s sophomore LP, Wondrous Bughouse. “Raspberry Cane” is a trippy animated affair filled with strange giant creatures that could call a Jim Henson production home, a perfect complement to the music; directed by Stephen McNally

Video: Youth Lagoon - "Mute"

Youth Lagoon has shared the new video for "Mute," from the recently released sophomore LP, Wondrous Bughouse. The visuals were directed by Tyler T. Williams (who also worked on the clips for Youth Lagoon’s "July" and"Montana". What we get is a series of strange images and events that wouldn't be out of place in Twin Peaks.

Video: Youth lagoon - "July"

Youth Lagoon  has let loose their latest video for the powerful “July” off of the superb Year of Hibernation LP. The clip was directed by Tyler T Williams, and much like the tune it’s self the video is quite eerie and uneasy reminding me of the Richard Kelly film “The Box”.

Listen: Youth Lagoon Cover John Denver's "Goodbye Again" Live on SiriusXMU

Youth Lagoon’s take on John Denver’s “Goodbye Again” manages to sound like the classic was tailor written for Trevor Power’s lo-fi group to cover. The song, which was performed on Sirius XM, is a stripped-down version that focuses on the singer’s gentle voice backed by the trademark bedroom pop sounds. Give it a listen below.
