Listen: Pillowfight – "Pillowfight" (Full LP Stream)

Today we have a full LP stream of Pillowfight’s debut.  As previously reported the project consist of Dan The Automator, multi-instrumentalist and singer Emily WellsKid Koala and David Choe. For fans of Dan’s past work (particularly Handsome Boy Modeling School and Lovage) there will be obvious similarities between projects but that’s ok because Dan pretty much created that whole trip hop that marries jazzy vocals with down-tempo beats or if you prefer, lounge-funk, that was popular in the late 90’s to mid-2000’s. Some might even say that there is a similarity to the Gorillaz but Dan also produced their debut LP so once again it’s a sound you know but coming from someone who has always done it right. Stream the twelve track self-titled LP below…

Listen: Pillowfight – “Get Your Shit Together”

It’s been a moment since we last shared any material from the forthcoming project featuring Dan The Automator, multi-instrumentalist and singer Emily Wells, Kid Koala and David Choe called Pillowfight. “Get Your Shit Together” sounds a lot like the production Dan gave us on the Deltron 3030 release some ten plus years ago with its blasting horns, snarling vocal melody, sweeping dynamic changes and harmonica scratches, it’s a sound Automator created and perfected for sure. Read & Listen: "Space Cadet" graphic novel and OST by Kid Koala

Space Cadet, the debut graphic novel by renound Ninja Tune turntablist Kid Koala, as well as its original soundtrack (presumably to be played while reading) will be released this October.  The plot touches on a theme evident in a lot of Kid Koala's work: the relationship between technology and isolation.  The drawings are also characteristic of Kid Koala's previous album/music-video art while the music consists of his own piano playing combined with his instrument of choice, the turntable.  Check out a preview of both aspects of the project below or watch a video of the live setup (yes he's taking this on the road too):
