Video: Purity Ring - "Push Pull"

It’s been tough to find the time for updates lately so sorry about that, once again it would seem real life is in the way of my virtual one. Gonna try and make up for some lost time by posting a handful of things I enjoyed that came out throughout the week.

First up is the new video from Purity Ring.

Two plus years have passed since the release of the Canadian duo’s debut, Shrines was released but the wait is almost over as Another Eternity is scheduled to drop March 3^rd. “Push Pull” is the first single chosen for visual adaptation and was directed by Renata Raksha who has seemingly been working with the duo leading up to the drop.

After sharing a new track titled "Push Pull" in December, Purity Ring have officially announced the follow-up to their 2012 album Shrines. Another Eternity is out March 3rd via 4AD and with it a new tune has been shared called   "Begin Again.”

It’s been a while since we heard anything new from Purity Ring so it was a pleasant and unexpected surprise when “Push Pull” was shared yesterday. I don't have much information on this one; presumably it’s out first taste of the follow-up to Shrines? Whatever the case the soothing visuals were provided by  Renata Raksha and the tune sticks to the successful tried and true formula the duo established on their debut. 

Video: Danny Brown – “25 Bucks”

Danny Brown shared a new video for Old track "25 Bucks", which features Purity Ring's Megan James.   In the clip, directed by NORTON, Danny and Megan interact with an environment frozen in time.

Danny Brown's Old is set to drop next week on October 8th via Fool’s Gold but you can now stream it in its entirety via Spotify below. The follow up to the instant classic that was XXX features guest spots from emcee’s such as SchoolboyQ, Charli XCX, Purity Ring, Freddie Gibbs, A$AP Rocky and Ab-soul. Production duties are handled by Paul White, A-Trak, Rustie, Skywlkr and more.

Old is most certainly not XXX part two, the Detroit native shows a lot of growth as a writer and overall I would say that  the record is a little less “weird” than its predecessor but no less unique possibly making it a little easier to digest for more casual listeners. Production is to say the least colorful jumping all over the place stylistically often revealing a new favorite as the album progress’s from start to finish.

Listen: Jon Hopkins: "Breathe This Air" Featuring Purity Ring

Well this is a treat, Jon Hopkins has enlisted Purity Ring's Megan James to provide vocals for a alternate version of "Breathe This Air" from his Immunity LP, I say a treat because the tune was already by far my favorite tune on the album so this is just a bonus as far as I’m concerned. A limited-edition 12"will be available at Purity Ring and Hopkins' shows at Los Angeles' Henry Fonda Theater on August 27 and 28. (175 copies will be given away for free per night).

The 12" will also feature Hopkins' remix of Purity Ring's "Amenamy" making it a great little score if you manage to get one.

Video: Purity Ring @ Montreal Boiler Room (Full Set)

Purity Ring's Corin Roddick stopped by Montreal’s Boiler Room on May 5th to take over the decks with his brand of party music. The forty-two minute set showcases tunes that fit nicely into the Purity Ring aesthetic with a dream like vibe setting the tone for most of the evening although he does mix things up now and again with some more “chaotic tunes.’ Of course some Purity Ring tracks make an appearance as well and the crowed seems to be well into it, check it out below...

Purity Ring decided to release a free studio recording of their cover of Soulja Boy’s “Grammy.” perhaps to coincide with the 55th Grammy Awards that took place last night? Whatever the case it’s free music and a fun cover that the band have been performing live on their most recent tour, check it below…

Electronic duo, Purity Ring, have shared the latest video from their 2012 debut album, Shrines. "Lofticries" follows a series of characters that all encounter their own unique surreal moment.

Purity Ring just shared a stream of a collaboration with rapper Danny Brown entitled "Belispeak II". Yes, it's a sequel to Shrines'  well known "Belispeak". Danny Brown fires off some machine gun quick rhymes about being hungry and how his belly speaks.  This should be like Christmas coming early to fans of either of these artists.

Our second full LP stream today is from a long leaked LP but one that’s been on heavy repeat by a lot of us for the last month plus. Canadian duo Purity Ring are coming out guns a blazing with their youthful electro pop sound that has pretty much crushed it in the first half of 2012. We’ve already shared singles “Belispeak,” “Fineshrine,” and “Obedear”and the rest of Shrines is just as good. For those just starting to pay attention now think The Knife without the creepiness and retro touches. Listen to Shrines HERE and purchase an official copy on July 24th via 4AD and Last Gang.

Electronic duo ,Purity Ring, have shared the second video to go along with their forthcoming debut record Shrines. We heard “Fineshrine” just under a month ago and now we can enjoy the visuals from this Young Replicant-directed clip.

Purity Ring have unleashed another tune from their forthcoming LP, Shrines, in the form of “Fineshrine.” Corin and Megan stick with the formula here in regards to  what we have heard thus far. At this point it’s a safe bet to say that if you like any of the aforementioned songs you are going to enjoy the album as a whole. Stream the Youtube video below….

Video: Purity Ring: “Belispeak”

Canadian duo Purity Ring have dropped some visual material from their forthcoming long player, Shrines. This is the first official video from the duo and it’s for a familiar song from Corin and Megan, “Belispeak.” The Directing duties came from Brewer with visuals that pretty much fit the ghostly vibe that the song.  Look for the LP to drop on July 24 via 4AD and Last Gang.

Canadian due Purity Ring have returned with some new material from their forthcoming long player, Shrines. Corin and Megan shared “Obedear” with the public recently and it’s clear that the duo are moving forward with their quest of producing quality electronic pop gems.
