Video: Purity Ring - "Push Pull"

It’s been tough to find the time for updates lately so sorry about that, once again it would seem real life is in the way of my virtual one. Gonna try and make up for some lost time by posting a handful of things I enjoyed that came out throughout the week.

First up is the new video from Purity Ring.

Two plus years have passed since the release of the Canadian duo’s debut, Shrines was released but the wait is almost over as Another Eternity is scheduled to drop March 3rd. “Push Pull” is the first single chosen for visual adaptation and was directed by Renata Raksha who has seemingly been working with the duo leading up to the drop.

Listen: Purity Ring – “Push Pull”

It’s been a while since we heard anything new from Purity Ring so it was a pleasant and unexpected surprise when “Push Pull” was shared yesterday. I don't have much information on this one; presumably it’s out first taste of the follow-up to Shrines? Whatever the case the soothing visuals were provided by  Renata Raksha and the tune sticks to the successful tried and true formula the duo established on their debut.

Listen: SOHN – “The Chase”

I woke up this morning bright and early to see that SOHN had shared a new tune. This is the first new material we have heard since the British producer dropped his album earlier in the year and he sticks with the formula that made him popular in the past. Stream “The Chase” from below…

Video: SOHN – “Artifice”

Artifice” is the latest tune taken from SOHN's debut album Tremors which will be released worldwide on the week of April 7th by 4AD. The visuals, which were presumably shot in super-fast video and slowed down to get the desired effect, come from director Thom Glunt. Is that snow or ash?

Video: The National – “Graceless”

The National share the second video from their recently released LP, Trouble Will Find Me. This one showcase’s the band goofing off which one might find out of character for such a brooding sound but I can totally relate and love the juxtaposition as I am feeling pretty graceless myself these days.

Directed by Sophia Peer who also handled the bands “Sea of Love” clip.

Video: Bon Iver - "Beth/Rest"

Only a day after sharing a full live set from Bon Iver a new video débuts for "Beth/Rest" off of last year’s self-titled LP. Directed by Justin Vernon himself along with Dan Huiting the hyper-natural clip, starring band member Mike Noyce, follows a couple in strange white suits, traveling through an enchanted wooded forest, cradling otherworldly balls of light, and kissing in clouds of fluorescent fog, at times looking like lost footage from the film The Fountain.

The Beth/Rest 12", out today in the U.S. via Jagjaguwar, is available on vinyl and digital formats and comes backed by an August 2011 live take of the track, recorded at Brooklyn's Rare Book Room studio. The single is out in the UK and Europe November 12 via 4AD.

Listen: Purity Ring and Danny Brown -"Belispeak II”

Purity Ring just shared a stream of a collaboration with rapper Danny Brown entitled "Belispeak II". Yes, it's a sequel to Shrines'  well known "Belispeak". Danny Brown fires off some machine gun quick rhymes about being hungry and how his belly speaks.  This should be like Christmas coming early to fans of either of these artists.

Listen: David Byrne and St. Vincent – “Love This Giant“ (Full LP Stream)

We have previewed two first rate tracks from Talking Heads' David Byrne and St. Vincent's Annie Clark in their joint effort, entitled Love This Giant. And we are following it up with a full NPR LP Stream just ahead of its September 11th release date. On 4AD. Swapping lead-vocal duties it’s Byrnes’ eccentric, jittery, delivery that stands out, not taking away anything from the always equally talented and odd Clark who was responsible for many of the arrangements. The album is full of quirky, fun, high energy moments and guests include producers John Congleton and Patrick Dillett, as well as Antibalas and The Dap-Kings.
