Video: The Afghan Whigs - "Lost In The Woods"

Following the Western-themed revenge drama of "Algiers" and the kinetic "Matamoros" videos, comes the dream like "Lost in the Woods," the latest visual from The Afghan WhigsDo to the Beast, once again directed by Phil Harder.

Listen: The Afghan Whigs - "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" (Police Cover)

When it comes to covering songs Greg Dulli and the Afghan Whigs are definitely one of the best in the business at doing so, usually adding some trademark melancholy to the tune in question. During the recording of their latest LP, Do to the Beast, they toyed around with the Police’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” but it didn’t make the final cut. “We sort of made a demo of the song and forgot about it,” says frontman Greg Dulli. Well after a quick re-recording of the vocals the band decided to share the tune today.

Video: Clipping. “Work Work” (feat. Cocc Pistol Cree)

Although the new Clipping album has been floating around the internet for well over a month I haven't seen much official campaigning going on for the record which is strange because it’s a very good one at that.  “Work Work” will help lead the charge forward; Taken from their upcoming self-titled Sub Pop debut the Carlos Lopez Estrada-directed video plays with ideas of power, control and gender stereotypes. Rapper Daveed Diggs spends most of the video in a compromising position while Cocc Pistol Cree keeps him there. CLPPNG officially drops on June 10th.

Video: Afghan Whigs - "Algiers"

It’s been sixteen years since the Afghan Whigs, one of my all-time favorite bands,  released a new album. But on April 15 that will all change when the Cincinnati group drop, Do to the Beast, via Sub Pop. Of course we get a great lead single and video to go with the release and you can now check out both below for track number 4 on the record entitled "Algiers". The violent Western movie-themed visuals were directed by Phil Harder, who worked with a band quite a bit between 1989 and 1994, it was shot on location in Agua Dulce California.

Video: Beach House – “Lazuli”

BeachHouse returns with their latest video and this time it’s for “Lazuli”, taken from the excellent Bloom LP. The video uses what  is seemingly becoming a trend  in music video’s in the last couple of years, ghosts and spirits. It’s a trend I can get behind and the band alongside director, Allen Cordell, do a great job with it.

Video: Mister Heavenly - "Bronx Sniper"

In perhaps one of the strangest cases of cross-promotion I have seen our crazy friends Man Wolf, from our most popular post ever, have retuned in the new music video for Mister Heavenly the indie rock quartet consisting of Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse), Nick Thorburn (The Unicorns/Islands), and Ryan Kattner (Man Man). Check out the wild video for "Bronx Sniper," the opening track on their debut album Out of Love.

Shabazz Palaces - "An Echo From the Hosts That Profess Infinitum"

Shabazz Palaces are a experimental hip hop act formed by Butterfly, formally of Digable Planets, Their new lp"Black Up" is out tomorrow June 28th on Sub Pop and is well worth checking out.
The production on this LP is sick and is more akin to something on Anticon then classic Blue Note infused Digable Planets.
"Like rich velvet hijabs or gold threaded abayas. Luxury as understood by the modest. Shabazz Palaces. If Bedouins herded beats instead of goats and settled in Seattle instead of the Atlas Mountains, this would be their album. Forward thinkers but nostalgic for a sparer time when ancient astronomers only recognized five planets. Hip hop. Black light uses electromagnetic radiation to eradicate microorganisms, but shabazz didn’t come to kill a sound, just to shine their own incandescent lamp on this. Hear. Hard and clear. Fifty thousand years in the making. Honorable.—palaceer pink gators. Produced by Knife Knights.plcrs at Gunbeat Serenade Studio in Outplace Palacelands. It was recorded and mixed in Lixx-alog by Blood." via Sub pop's bio.
Enjoy one of the many choice cuts from the lp below entitled "An Echo From The Hosts That Profess Infinitum"
