Last week Josh Tillman shared a new tune from his forthcoming Father John Misty LP, I Love You, Honeybear by the name of “Bored in the USA.” The tune continues down the already fine path laid out in Fear Fun, lyrically focusing on sex, drugs and alcohol.

Ex-Fleet Foxes member Josh Tillman, aka Father John Misty released a new video for Fear Fun cut "Funtimes in Babylon." The clip was co-directed by Tillman himself alongside Grant James and has an old VHS tape type quality to it.

Here's the video for "Nancy From Now On" off of Fear Fun, the debut LP from Father John Misty which is former Fleet Foxes drummer and solo artist Josh Tillman’s latest project. The clip was co-directed by Tillman and Amy Cargill, and features Tillman and a S&M type gal having some fun in a hotel room and beyond. Fear Fun is out on May 1 in the U.S. via Sub Pop. Due to a nip slip at the end of the video this should be labelled as NSFW.

Sub Pop will release the Illusion EP by Poor Moon, the Seattle band that shares members  with Fleet Foxes including recently departed drummer and solo artist J Tillman, Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott on March 26th. That 5 track EP is now available to download via the widget below, BUT ACT NOW-- it's only available for two days.  If you are a fan of Fleet Foxes this fits well in their universe.

Sunday Matinée - Celebrating Sunday's with a live clip – Joanna Newsom & Fleet Foxes

This weeks Sunday Matinée comes courtesy of last night's episode of Austin City Limits with two full sets from the likes of Joanna Newsom and Fleet Foxes. Fleet Foxes start things of  with a selection from both their LP’s including "Sim Sala Bim", "Your Protector", "The Shrine/An Argument", "Helplessness Blues", and "Blue Ridge Mountains". Newsome kicks off the second half treating us to an old classic, "Bridges and Balloons", as well as two cuts from her last 3 disc LP, "Have One on Me", and "Good Intentions Paving Company". Listen: Fleet Foxes - "Dancing On My Own" (Robyn Cover)

Here is something fun from another 2011 favorite of ours, Fleet Foxes. The Seattle based band recently covered Robyn's "Dancing On My Own", the results are what you would expect from the folk group which is good. On another note does anyone else find it weird that Morgan Henderson went from playing bass in the Blood Brothers  to the mellow styling of the Fleet Foxes?  Check it below…

UPDATE: This song was apparently recorded by a band that covers songs in a Fleet Foxes style. It's not the actual band, pretty spot on!

Onomatopeia's Best Music of 2011

Welcome to Onomatopoeia’s yearend best of 2011. While our first posts began only 6 months ago in June, we felt that half a year on the blogosphere warranted the mandatory best of list. Since this is our first in what will hopefully become an annual tradition we had to take some time to figure out some of the in’s and out’s on how we wanted to go about it all. After some discussion amongst the contributors we decided to go with individual lists of 13 rather than one communal list. Why thirteen? We figured one choice per month at twelve months in the year with an extra 13th choice for good measure.
