Unless you have been living in a cave, or in less dramatic fashion simply don't consider
yourself a fan, you probably know that the long lost
Aphex Twin album under his
Caustic Window alias was “shipped” out yesterday to backers of the hugely successful
Kickstarter campaign. For those who don't know the history behind
the release back in April, a test pressing of an unreleased 1994
Aphex
Twin album called
Caustic Window surfaced online. It was
originally listed for sale for an absurd $13,500 on
Discogs, but before it was
sold, a
Kickstarter was launched where fans could pay for a digital copy
of the album; and like myself many did exactly that, raising $67,424 on a goal
of $9,300. Of course roughly ten hours
after the music was distributed copies have made their way online for download
and streaming for all those to enjoy that found the $12 asking price too steep.
Outside of the tunes, the collection ends off with some charming prank calls, giving a real human touch to the otherwise mysterious and reclusive artist; a perfect way to end off an album that found it's release through such an over-the-top manner.
