Video: The Black Keys - "Gold on the Ceiling" (directed by Harmony Korine)

A while back director Harmony Korine (Kids, Gummo, Julien Donkey-Boy ,etc..) shot some footage of the Black Keys which was to be used for a TBD music video, eventually "Gold on the Ceiling".  In the mean time, the band released their own video for "Gold on the Ceiling" consisting of live and behind-the-scene tour footage.  Weird images started popping up from the video shoot of the boys as babies being carried around by giant dopplegangers (supposedly to 2 very tall local Belmont basketball players) and eventually the Korine video was released.  It is kind of an official "unofficial" video.  According to a recent MTV interview,.. the boys said the following:

"We did a video with Harmony, but it's not really for 'Gold on the Ceiling,'" frontman Dan Auerbach said.  "Well, it is, sort of," drummer Patrick Carney added.  "It's for whatever music we want to put to it. Pretty much we just let Harmony get self-indulgent, do his thing," Auerbach continued.

It kind of shows as the video lags and dwells in its own oddness and obviously wasn't made for this music.  I've been lost on Korine's last couple projects as it seems he is getting wrapped up in his own obsession with trailer park oddness and has been beating that subject to death.  Keep an eye out for the cameo appearance by the ATL Twins at the end, who will appear in Korine's next film, Spring Breakers.
