Onomatopoeia Exclusive Download: /ˈjedˌīak/ - Keepin’ Busy EP

Originally I had planned on sharing more exclusives with y’all on the 4th of July weekend but my computer’s graphic card burned out days before leaving me high and dry until it could be replaced. It’s probably for the best as now I have something to share this Monday morning to combat that post World Cup lull many of us will be feeling.

Keepin’ Busy is just that, three more mashup/remix’s I passed my time working on that don't necessarily share anything thematically other than the come from me and are free to listen to and share.  Featuring 2Pac, M.I.A., Eminem, Nate Dogg, BoardsOf Canada, Howie B and Glass Candy these three new tracks also mark the move into a new pro account on Sound Cloud. What does that mean exactly?   It means I’ve given away over two hours of free exclusives to you, our readers until now, and have the intent to keep on doing so and on my own dime no less!

Listen: M.I.A. - "Matangi" (Full LP Stream)

As seems to be the trend now days M.I.A. has shared a full album stream of her latest, Matangi, which is due out next Tuesday.  The LP features appearances by The Weeknd, and production from Switch, Illangelo, and Hit Boy. In my opinion LP #4 is still lacking some of the fun found in the first two records but isn't as trying as her last venture. The second half of the album works better for me that the first half, check it below…

Listen: - M.I.A. - "Y.A.L.A."

M.I.A.’s latest tunes have been hit or miss for me for the most part but I am most certainly still curious and interested to hear Matangi when it finally drops. “Y.A.L.A.,” a play on the popular term Y.O.L.O. acts as an acronym for “you always live again” and is our latest taste of Mantangi, it undeniably has a Diplo sound to it and that’s usually a good thing when talking about M.I.A.

Video: M.I.A. - "Bring The Noize"

After sharing an audio stream of M.I.A.’s latest taste of forthcoming LP Matangi last week via "Bring the Noize" comes the video. While the visuals aren’t as memorable as last year’s “Bad Girls” a pink haired M.I.A. delivers her message via a slamming beat.

Listen: M.I.A. - "Bring The Noise"

M.I.A. has shared the first taste from new album Matangi in the form of "Bring the Noize." As you never quite know which M.I.A. is going to show up, I’m happy to report that this latest track ain’t half bad.  The pounding party production by Switch and Surkin keeps things light and fun, which for my money is when M.I.A. is at her best, opting to let the lyrics take on her more serious side. Look for a video on the 21st of the month.

Listen: M.I.A. - "Matangi Mix"

Over the weekend M.I.A. shared a short “mix” she produced for the Kenzo fashion show in Paris featuring some new original music by the Sri Lankin.  It's called the MATANGI mix which of course is the also the name of her forthcoming LP that is scheduled to drop April 15th but has already been delayed several times. This is everything good about M.IA., hard percussion, international flavor and more, fingers crossed that the mix is representative of the LP.

Listen: M.I.A. - "AtTENTion"

Some new music from M.I.A. appeared online today in the form of “AtTENTion”.  Apparently the song was released via a fan after a group of similar minded folks banded together to collectively pester her for new music on Twitter, she obliged them and e-mailed what you hear below.

Listen: M.I.A. – “Baby”

M.I.A. returns to the public eye today with her much talked about collaboration with William Orbit entitled “Baby.”  The sound is pretty much what you'd expect, though M.I.A. certainly sounds more slick than usual. I can’t say I’m really feeling this one, I think both of them do their thing but this reminds me more of the joyless MAYA LP than I would like it too. M.I.A. works best with whimsy and humor of Diplo and Switch where fun is the focus, not bad just not great.

Listen: M.I.A. ft. Missy Elliott & Rye Rye – “Bad Girls" (Switch Remix)

With “Bad Girls” we saw a return to form from M.I.A. and sticking with the winning formula of the past she has enlisted Switch (one half of Major Lazer) to provide a remix. With guest verses from Missy Elliott(welcome back) and young Baltimore upstart Rye Rye this one is a winner. An EP entitled Bad Girls – The Remixes, featuring appearances from Missy E, Rye Rye and Azealia Banks over reworks from Switch, Danja and Leo Justi will be released July 6th digitally, or if you’re feel like dropping a little coin you can pick up this exclusive USB key necklace.

Video: The Making Of M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” Video

We shared M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” video back in early February and it was a welcome return of the artist whose third commercial LP left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Directed by Romain Gavras M.I.A.'s retooled/updated/new-old single "Bad Girls” was an instant success on the web and a big part of it was due to the exceptionally fun visuals. Vice now has a making of video of the shoot which is well worth the watch, check it below…

Video: M.I.A. - "Bad Girls"

I thought M.I.A.’s last proper album was a big pile of steaming shit, I think the main reason it was such a turn off was because it was completely void of any joy, it felt like she was just complaing through music, so I’ve been cautiously optimistic about her follow up which is due out later this year. Well the single has been out for a week now and I figured I’d just wait till the video dropped since Mia stated it would be released today and here we have it. Directed by Romain Gavras (of ginger genocide "Born Free" video fame)  M.I.A.'s retooled/updated/new-old single "Bad Girls" is thankfully starting to recapture some of that old magic from her earlier records. Whatever the case the video is definitely a lot of fun, check it below….
