Video: Queens of the Stone Age - "Smooth Sailing"

Queens of the Stone Age have shared a humorous new video for "Smooth Sailing", from 2013's Like Clockwork. The clip was directed by a familiar face here at Onomatopoeia, Hiro Murai, and see’s QOTSA front man Josh Homme spending a night out with Japanese businessmen, inevitably things get dark by the end of the journey.

Listen" EMA - "3Jane"

Erika Anderson’s forthcoming LP, The Future’s Void , is out on April 8 via Matador, and today we can share a third tune off the record by way of  “3Jane.” Truth be told I’ve been enjoying this record for a while now, I’m a big fan of EMA and her last record made my best of the year, The Future’s Void will most likely do the same come December.

Video: EMA – “So Blonde”

Following our first taste of EMA’s new LP, The Future’s Void, in December of last year comes “So Blonde”, a much more poppy affair then the awesome “Satellites”, but of course with a real raw energy none the less. The video was directed and edited by Vice Cooler with the gifs coming from Molly Soda. The Future’s Void is out April 8th.

Video: Queens of the Stone Age – “If I Had A Tail”

Another day and another Queens Of the Stone Age video. Having now heard the album in full I can say that one of my favorite tunes on Like Clockwork is “If I Had A Tail” which is today's featured video from the LP. Question, is that a Snake Plissken tribute 24 seconds in? Like everything we have seen so far this features artwork from cover artist Boneface and was directed by Liam Brazier. Like Clockwork drops on June 4th via Matador

Video:Queens of the Stone Age – “Keep Your Eyes Peeled”

In the age of artists trying to combat early album leaks bands have become more and more innovative in how they choose to introduce their new works to the public. Case in point are Queens of the Stone Age who have have shared yet another ghoulish animated video for a track from their forthcoming album, ...Like Clockwork, out June 4 via Matador. If we are going to be getting a video for each track I’m all for it.

This one is for "Keep Your Eyes Peeled"and Like the "Kalopsia" and "I Appear Missing" the imagery was handled by artist Boneface with animation by Liam Brazier.

R.I.P. Dennis Flemion of The Frogs

From Left: Dennis Flemion, Kurt Cobain, Jimmy Flemion

Dennis Flemion of the Frogs is missing and presumed dead, Matador Records' Matablog has announced. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the 57-year-old resident of West Allis, Wisconsin went missing after going for a swim on a lake in Racine County on Saturday.

Brothers Dennis and Jimmy Flemion formed the Frogs in 1980. They released albums on Matador and Homestead and became notorious for wearing flamboyant costumes during concerts and for their controversial lyrics about gender and race. They continued to release albums up until last week, when they digitally released two LPs at the same time: Squirrel Bunny Jupiter Deluxe and Count Yer Blessingsz. For myself the Frogs provided many laughs when I was in high school making their way onto many a mixtapes. I always knew I had something I could throw on for the uninitiated that would make them do a double take!

Matador's Gerard Cosloy wrote a lengthy post about Flemion on the Matablog:

"Dennis was without question, one of the funniest persons I’ve ever encountered. Painfully so. It would not be an exaggeration to say there were several times in which his verbal evisceration chops were almost impossible to keep up with (those who’ve attended Frogs shows over the years know exactly what I’m talking about). ... The fantastic output and fleeting moments of near-fame aside, I hope he’s remembered as a really sweet guy first, and a hugely talented artist second. Our thoughts go out to Jimmy, the rest of the Flemion family, their friends and everyone who was lucky enough to know Dennis. Simply saying, 'he’ll be missed' doesn’t come close to covering it."
