Throwback Thursday’s: “Lonny Breaux Collection”(AKA Frank Ocean)

Odd Future member Frank Ocean has had a big big year, his first commercial LP, ChannelORANGE, saw much critical and commercial success so I figured  for this week’s Throwback Thursday why not throw up Franks pre Nostalgia Ultra era music when he went by the name of Lonny Breaux. The Collection below which I split into two separate download links consists of 64 unreleased tracks. You’re welcome, and enjoy!

Listen: Frank Ocean – “Blue Whale”

Frank Ocean shared a new tune via his Tumblr titled “Blue Whale.” Ocean changes it up a bit on this one perhaps getting some inspiration from his close affiliates, Odd Future, choosing to rap as opposed to his usual singing.  Give the track a listen below…

Video: Frank Ocean - "Pyramids" (NSFW)

Frank Ocean had a big weekend having first performed on last night’s Saturday Night Live season premiere and now dropping a slightly edited down NSFW video for the nine-minute channelORANGE highlight "Pyramids". The clip was directed by Nabil, who also helmed "Novicane" as well as videos we have shared for the likes of, Bon Iver, and Antony and theJohnsons. Like last nights aforementioned performance on SNL John Mayer makes an appearance in this one.

Download/Listen/Video: Afghan Whigs – “Love Crimes” (Frank Ocean Cover)

The Afghan Whigs have been covering Frank Ocean’s “Lovecrimes” on the regular during their ongoing reunion tour (as can be seen below). Now, much to our delight, the band has decided to release a studio version of the cover, making it their second release of the year. There is no better band to cover this tune, the Whigs always come correct with their interpretations and make no secret of their love for R&B. Stream the tune now below courtesy of FADER, and grab the free download through the band’s website beginning at Noon EST today.

Video: Jay-Z & Kanye West – "No Church In The Wild”

The latest visuals from Kanye West and Jay-Z’s joint LP Watch The Throne are here and it’s for the truly great  album opener “No Church In The Wild” featuring Odd Future’s Frank Ocean.  The clip was directed by Roman Gavras, who if you recall, directed M.I.A’s "Bad Girls" video. What I didn’t know until now, is that Roman was born in Athens Greece, which could have easily served as inspiration for this video given the country’s current political state.  Anyway the video is shot incredibly well giving it an epic feel with a elephant thrown in towards the end just to remind you these guys are kind of a big deal.

Video: Frank Ocean - "Thinking About You"

I was wondering when someone was gonna commission those talented video makers over at High5Collective to create an official video.  We've seen them produce some great unofficial visuals in the past including one for the man being discussed here, Frank Ocean, but this time it’s all legit. Check the video  for  "Thinking About You" below…

Listen: Jay-Z & Kanye West - 'Watch the Throne'

Someone was nice enough to make available the long awaited Jay-Z and Kanye West combined effort, Watch The Throne in it's entirety. Featuring a few guest appearances including two from Frank Ocean and one from Jay-Z's wife, Beyonce. There are many highlights after my first listen and in my opinion doesn't disappoint. You can buy a copy of the album exclusively on iTunes with physical release coming later in the week.

Frank Ocean – "Dreamkilla"

A brand new Frank Ocean song entitled “Dreamkilla” has arrived. Ocean has received an immense amount of attention on his Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape, featuring the popular song “Novacane.” The OFWGKTA member plans to release a new EP, Nostalgia, LITE on July 26. Because of the dispute over samples used in Oceans’s songs, a few of the tracks on the original mixtape will not make the cut. “American Wedding,” which samples the Eagles’ “Hotel California” will definitely not be cleared, says Ocean. Songs you will see on the “new and improved” mixtape include “Swim Good,” “We All Try,” “Novacane,” and “Songs for Women.”
