Video: FKA Twigs: “Pendulum”

FKA Twigs has shared a video for "Pendulum", from last year's stellar LP1. The clip was directed by Twigs herself, and is a mixture of imagery and themes the artist is clearly drawn to and has experimented with in the past, happily they are themes that work well with the artist’s music and  keep me coming back for more.

FKA Twigs - "Video Girl"

I’ve made it no secret how much I love FKA TwigsLP1, in reality I love all of the artist’s work and LP1, much like her first two EP’s, will absolutely make my year end list, actually LP1 will top the list. “Video Girl” is just one of the many highlights from the record and now it has a Kahlil Joseph directed video to boot.

There is a whole lot going on in the clip, which is a variation of the track as it appears on record. A man is being executed as Twigs acts as a fly on the wall of sorts in a world that juxtaposes the clean and sterile with the dark and gritty, something Twigs and her co-producer for the tune, Paul Epworth, do in their music extremely well. Keep an eye out for Travi$ Scott who makes a cameo.

Video: Shlohmo & Jeremih -"Fuck You All The Time"

Well this is an awesome surprise, possibly on two counts. First off Shlohmo and Jeremih’s fantastic “Fuck You all the Time” remix got a video treatment today, second and possibly more surprising to our readers; the tune has been firmly sitting at the top spot of my favorite songs of 2014 since its release some months back. While very rudimentary in it's structure the intoxicating vocal manipulations and syrupy backing track pulled me in from day one and really haven't let go since. In fact I was just blasting the tune at home yesterday thinking what I think every time I hear it, FUCK YEAH!

The video is somewhat special as well; designed to read like a commercial for a sex hotline the viewer will see a phone number flash on screen, if you actually dial the number you will receive instructions on how to find and download Shlohmo’s new hidden track. Watch the video below for the clue and some serious 90's inspired sexiness.

Onomatopoeia Exclusive Download: /ˈjedˌīak/ - “Burning Chvrches EP” (Chvrches vs. Michael Jackson, Empire Of The Sun, Sean Paul, R. Kelly, Katy Perry)

Happy Sunday y’all, the lords day as some folks would call it, seemed only appropriate to release a new ep by the name of Burning Chvrches.  It’s amazing how much you can get done in twelve hours if you buckle down and focus. What I have for your listening enjoyment below is five remix/mashup’s that offer a taste of the ten or so I completed yesterday using the instrumentals from Chvrches' Bones Of What You Believe LP.  I tried to jump around a bit with the acapellas and leave the hip hop on the side lines this time choosing to focus on pop, R&B and reggaeton; with the likes of Michael Jackson, Empire Of The Sun, R. Kelly, Katy Perry and Sean Paul guiding me. Visit the player below to listen, download and share.

Listen/Download: Youthquaker – “BitTorrent Bundle EP”

Definitely some interesting  and experimental things going on with the production from Youthquaker on their new ep...

Youthquake was a term coined by Vogue’s Diana Vreeland; shorthand for the social disruption of the 60s. What started as a moment in time became a sprawling movement: a shared belief in self-expression.

Illangelo and Phlo Finister’s Youthquaker sets out to recapture this spirit. The project from the GRAMMY Award-winning producer (and The Weeknd collaborator) is cinematic, textured, and timeless: 90s trip hop + the sound of the 70s. Your first listen is here. Youthquaker is debuting three new tracks from their upcoming album, Projections, as a free BitTorrent Bundle. Download the Bundle, and unlock the movement: in song, video, and art.

Listen: FKA Twigs - "Pendulum"

The new FKA Twigs LP is pure fire; she officially follows up our first taste of LP1 today with “Pendulum.” Taking to Twitter a message that read  “one of my favourite songs on my record,” accompanied by a youtube link for the tune below. I’m going to have to agree, the tune is definitely one of the best on a record that’s filled with quality songs, my current favorite being  Lights On.” LP1 officially drops on August 12th and the experimental production and unique vocal delivery is just weird enough to please both musical oddballs and those who prefer the safety of the radio.

Video: Jungle - "Time"

One week before the release of their self-titled debut album via XL RecordingsJungle have shared the clip for their latest single, “Time.” Directed by Oliver Hadlee Pearch alongside band member ‘J’, the guys stick to the inspiration they have been using thus far, dancing and you guessed it, more dancing.

Don't forget to grab more music from Jungle via our playlist series.

Video: FKA Twigs – “Two Weeks”

FKA Twigs recently announced her debut album and with it has shared the Nabil-directed video for the first single, “Two Weeks.” Twigs usually has some striking visuals accompanying her songs and the stunning, gold-laden theme of this one is no different. LP1 arrives August 12.

Video: Blood Orange – “You're Not Good Enough”

I’ve shared quite a bit from Blood Orange via our playlist series including the excellent single from the best of 2013 Cupid Deluxe LP, "You're Not Good Enough," but had reserved the option to do a proper post on the Devonté Hynes project until something post worthy came along and today is that day.

Looking like it drew inspiration from the 1980’s the video for “You’re Not good Enough” is a good time featuring questionable lighting, wardrobe choices, dance numbers and cameo’s including FriendsSamantha Urbani and the video’s director Gia Coppola.

Video: Banks – “Brain” Prod. By Shlohmo

I shared a stream of the sublime “Brain” from L.A. artist Banks back in January, if you recall it featured production from Shlohmo and was pure fire. Today brings an equally captivating video for the song; and while it is rather simple in nature it most certainly is moody and well styled.

Listen: Banks – “Brain” Prod. By Shlohmo

I haven’t shared anything from L.A. artist Banks in a while and this one is a double whammy as Shlohmo handles the production. “Brain” keeps the moody dark tone explored in both artist’s work so this really is a natural collaboration that works well.

Listen: The Weeknd – “Love In The Sky”

Abel Tesfaye latest offering to the public under his Weeknd moniker is a tune called “Love In The Sky.” The song marks the third track we have now heard from the forthcoming Kiss land LP, which is due out September 10th, and is a rather straightforward affair compared to June’s offering of “Belongto the World.”

The Weeknd has shared another new tune and video from his forthcoming LP Kiss Land, this one is called “Belong To The World” and samples Portishead’s “Machine Gun.” The sci-fi inspired visuals come courtesy of Anthony Mandler who has done some equally cinematic work for Lana Del Rey.

Video: The Weeknd - "Kiss Land"

We shared The Weeknd's new single "Kiss Land" last month, whose art work teased with themes of Asian flavored pornography only to be echoed again in the heavily distorted video which dropped today.  Check it below and watch for the LP of the same name later this year.

Listen: The Weeknd - "Kiss Land"

The Weeknd just posted the title track to his forthcoming album Kiss Land. The track clocks in at eight minutes and features all the key elements that made us take notice of Abel two years ago when he hit the scene.
