The VSS Reunite

Finally a reunion I can get excited about! Boulder’s VSS have announced their intention to play a batch of reunion shows in celebration of the release of Nervous Circuits on vinyl and a forthcoming compilation LP that collects their previous 7" material (21:51). "The VSS began in Colorado in January of 1995 before calling it quits in July of 1997. In that time the band relocated to San Francisco, toured the U.S. and Europe/UK, released a series of 7-inch EPs and issued Nervous Circuits, the only proper full length album from the band. The VSS are the pioneers in the underground punk genre having introduced sci-fi keyboards, angular guitars, unusual rhythmic shifts and vocal effects that come together for the bands distinctive sound.  I personally love this band and have praised them in the past, so far no word on dates, cities, etc.

Members of The VSS went on to join bands like The Slaves, Pleasure Forever, Red Sparowes, Rabbits, Year Future and more. They are better than 99% of the punk/hardcore acts that ever existed, past or present, and forgo easy traps like medley and chorus'.

Video: M83 - "Reunion"

M83 released the latest visuals from 2011’s Hurry Up We’re Dreaming track “Reunion.” Directed by Fleur & Manu, the striking video continues the storyline from the video for "Midnight City" as a group of paranormal children go to battle. Watch out for an  AdamYauch tribute 48 seconds or so in.

Video: AT THE DRIVE-IN’S FULL COACHELLA SET in HD

Coachella’s first weekend is finally over, and while everyone is talking about Tupac’s hologram, I find this to be a lot more exciting. At The Drive-In performed  an energetic 40 minute set featuring tunes from their final two LP's, Relationship of Command and In Casino Out.  Make sure to enjoy lead singer’s Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s onstage banter, on topics ranging from Peter Saarsgard’s mom to Urban Outfitters but don’t wait too long because these video’s have been getting pulled from the internet extremely fast by Johnny Law.

Setlist:
01:05 Arcarsenal
04:34 Pattern Against User
08:09 Chanbara
11:35 Lopsided
15:30 Sleepwalk Capsules
19:17 Napoleon Solo
24:20 Quarantined
31:30 Enfilade
37:36 One Armed Scissor

Video: At the Drive-In's First Reunion Show

The reunited At the Drive-In played their first show in over a decade last night at Red 7 in Austin and we have footage to share. Check out the boys playing Relationship of Command's "Quarantined", "Enfilade" and "One Armed Scissor" below. If you didn’t catch the hugely influential band the first time round more and more dates will inevitably be added to this reunion tour giving you the chance to do so now.

Listen: M83 - "Reunion" (Mylo Remix)

Most of our readers are familiar with the frenchman M83 and his epic soundscapes inspired by a wide-eyed nostalgic and romanticized  take on what it was like to be young.  Few, however, might remember Mylo's mid 00s electro-house productions and fairly decent album entitled "Destroy Rock & Roll" which was guided by similar motifs.  With this remix of M83's "Reunion" to be featured on the EP of the same name, Mylo is back and I for one forgot I actually missed him.  Listen to a great quality radio rip below:

At the Drive-In Reunite

Looks like one of my all time favorite bands have reunited for some shows in 2012. In 2009, founding At the Drive-In member Cedric Bixler-Zavala teased a possible band reunion, explaining they'd been "making amends" something I have heard at least once a year every year from common friends but now it's actually happening.  The band's website reads, "ATTENTION ! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence. THIS STATION IS .... NOW ....OPERATIONAL."  Referring to a lyric from the seminal Relationship of Command LP. They've also have begun Tweeting again.

The boys are set to play two dates at Coachella this year, April 15th and 22nd but there is no word on a new album or material in general.  I kind of have mixed feelings about this, I’ve never met a bigger fan of the band than myself, I was petty obsessed with all their records and have seen them live many times so I prefer to keep the memory as is. It is  interesting to see the extent  of all the love, something that always existed but became much more apparent after they broke up.  I remember when they were around and touring on the regular I couldn’t even  give tickets away for free due of the lack of interest from most people although those that were fans were always hardcore in showing it!
