Listen: Four Tet - "Skin" Grimes re-work

Four Tet did a guest stint on RinseFM recently and shared a reworking of Grimes‘ “Skin” with little information on the track. Turns out  Four Tet himself was behind it and decided to share a YouTube rip of the audio via his Facebook.  The producer explained that he created the cut, but it isn’t an official remix of Grimes’ song:

“It's just some track I made the other day using a loop from her record... no remix going on or anything.”

Ok so I completely made that up, but that has to be the premise of this video for Grimes' "Genesis", which was teased just a few days ago.  The track is one of the many highlights off her brilliant Visions LP and I for one did not have these images in my mind while listening to it these past months, which is not to say this isn't a great video. It's yet another glimpse into Grimes' unique vision and creative mind, directed by Claire Boucher.

Hey Ho from Chambaland and myself and a happy Friday to everyone. So here is the latest Perestroika mashup, we finished it off a couple weeks back but have been sitting on it for a brief moment while tying up some loose ends with the art work. This time round’ we went with some R&B, via Avant, for the acapella, while using Grimes as our instrumental. We like to think this re-work gives the whole thing a slight hipster R&B vibe, maybe not lyrically but sonically, Let us know what do you think?

Video: Grimes - "Nightmusic" (Featuring Majical Cloudz)

The second video to launch from Visions under Claire Boucher's Grimes moniker has arrived. Directed by John Londono, "Nightmusic" features some set design that looks to be influenced by a JRR Tolkien novel. Wizards, witches, spooky forests, etc... In other words your D&D playing friends will be excited about this one.

Video: Grimes performs live in the KEXP studio 2-20-2012

Canadian Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, grabbed her keyboards and Roland Grooveboxes for a little trip to Seattle’s KEXP radio for a live session back in late February. For those unfamiliar with the artist’s live show it’s an intimate   look as Claire twiddles and configures her complicated setup, creating her songs piece by piece layering her sweet cooing throughout. The 27 minute performance includes “Symphonia IX”, “Genesis” and “Be A Body” which can all be viewed below…

Listen: Membrain - "Airic" (Grimes Side Project)

Claire Boucher's of Grimes has teamed up with  Tim Lafontaine of experimental Canadian noise act Cop Car Bonfire, to form Membrain. According to their SoundCloud, a new EP called Sit Back, Rewind will be out this year, but Grimes Tweeted today: "it's really a live thing.. and, Membrain is like 90 % Tim I just do vocals for him."  Listen to "Airic" below which happens to sample material for Boucher's latest LP, Visions.

Grimes released the video for choice tune "Oblivion", from the avant-pop artist's new album Visions. The clip was directed by EmilyKai Bock, and features Grimes' Claire Boucher singing along to her song in different settings looking as smiley and charming as ever.

23 year old  DJ/producer Claire Boucher aka Grimes will be releasing her third full length, Visions, on February 21st via 4AD. The 13 track LP was recorded in Claire’s Montreal DIY loft-space turned record label, Arbutus, and continues down the same path already established on previous releases with its mix of dark beats and twisted effects woven in with the singers unique vocal style composed of wails, purrs and sighs.
