The only reason that it takes me seven years to do stuff is because I just don’t really have a plan,” Fiona told NPR. “I got a lot of problems, but I’m really good at intuiting what I need to do to be happy with whatever I create. I know when to stop myself, I know when to start, I know when to leave something alone. I guess I just kind of indulge that completely, and so I just take my time.”

Listen: Justice - "New Lands" (SebastiAn Remix) Radio Rip

Ed Banger buddies SebastiAn and Justice have gotten together for some remix action. SebastiAn is behind one of the remix’s for Justice’s forthcoming “New Lands” single out on June 25th.  The radio rip comes from Skream and Benga’s BBC Radio 1 show and has a great feel to it, almost hip hop in its production style but with touches of the Parisian’s trade mark sound before leading into a full breakdown towards the end. Good stuff. The full release will also include remix’s from A –Trak and DJ FALCON and can pre-ordered HERE.

Video: Fiona Apple – “Every Single Night"

Director Joseph Cahill is behind the first video from Fiona Apple’s forthcoming LP Idler Wheel…out on June 19th. "Every Single Night" features Apple interacting with a host of oddities from giant octopus’ to snails, to brains and more, the video is definitely grounded in the  world of fantasy more so than horror though.

Video: Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson & Co. in ‘The Dream Team’ Documentary (Preview)

With all the posts on music and art most people don’t know it but I’m a pretty big basketball junkie and hardcore lifelong Bulls fan. Alongside Scraped Knee, a lifelong Knicks fan, we have been talking trash to each other and our respective teams for years. Another little know fact is that  I’m a hardcore Olympics fan, never miss an opening or closing and try and catch as many events as I can, whether it be live or on tv. We don’t post a whole lot of sports oriented stories on Onomatopoeia but now and again something comes up that is fun and note worthy that we like toshare and this is one of those instances.

This summer’s 2012 Games in London will mark the 20th anniversary of the Dream Team the most elite group of professional athletes ever assembled to play together.  Jordan, Bird, Johnson, Ewing, Robinson, Barkley, Pippen, Malone, Stockton, Drexler, Mullen entered into the history books in the summer of 1992 in Barcelona and proceeded to crush everyone by an average of over 40 points.  The NBA-led Dream Team cruised to a gold medal for the United States and for the first time a documentary following the inside and untold stories of the team will be released on June 13th. Simply titled The Dream Team, we will be getting an inside look at the selection process, the on-court battles and trash-talking during practices, and everything else leading up to the Games themselves. The documentary is being presented by Right Guard, and will premiere on NBA TV, check out the preview below which should get you excited if you are a basketball fan in any capacity.

Happy Friday!

I really hope this is a just a type-o!

Preview: Shawn Barber @ Joshua Liner Gallery, NYC

Shawn barber – “Hannah Aitchison Hands Study 1”  2012, (oil on panel) 24" x 18"

Shawn Barber is gearing up for his next solo show at JoshuaLiner Gallery in NYC, "Memoir: The Tattooed Portraits Series,” and we have some video footage and photography to share with you before the June 28th opening. I’m a big fan of Shawn’s tattoo portraits and am always excited when a new collection of work is readying to launch. I was lucky enough to get an early preview some months back on the then almost completed paintings that feature some of the tattoo worlds biggest and most loved figures. With new portraits of legends like Ed Hardy to cult hero’s like Grime and one time tv personality, Hanna Aitchison, there is no shortage of breath taking oil work to be had. Barber also went very big with this show featuring some of the painters’ largest pieces to date. Check out the video below (beats provided by Aesop Rock) and make sure to pass by the gallery once the show opens to see the real thing if you live in or are around the NYC area.

Video: Beach House – “Lazuli”

BeachHouse returns with their latest video and this time it’s for “Lazuli”, taken from the excellent Bloom LP. The video uses what  is seemingly becoming a trend  in music video’s in the last couple of years, ghosts and spirits. It’s a trend I can get behind and the band alongside director, Allen Cordell, do a great job with it.

Video: Killer Mike – “Big Beast” Video (Feat. T.I., Bun B & Trouble) NSFW

There are big videos and then there are BIG videos, “Big Beast” the first single from Killer Mike’s recently released, excellent El-P-produced, new album R.A.P. Music falls under BIG. In the nine-minute clip we get a mixture of action movie mayhem in the form of a foiled convenience-store robbery, an entrails feast by day of the dead strippers, lots of graphic blood, gore and dismemberment, a knife murder, an axe murder, a car chase,  a guest star in a Reagan mask, and three of the South’s biggest rappers looking like they own this shit.

Watch for the shout out at about 2:48 in.

Video: Kool A.D. - "Gwyneth Paltrow" (ft. Himanshu)

Gwyneth Paltrow”  featuring Himanshu is the latest video from Kool A.D. but I don't believe the track appears on the mc's second mixtape, 51, which dropped back in April  featuring production solely from West coast beat makers.   Keeping with that West Coast vibe Kool uses Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre’s “The Recipe”as the back beat for this one. The Das Racist rapper also returns to the found footage format that he has relied on in the past, this time using a creepy film of two Avant-garde performers wearing clay masks. Enjoy the music, the visuals and the nightmares!

Video: Haim - "Forever"

Back in February we shared an EP from LA based band Haim. The group composed of three sisters finally released a video to accompany the EP choosing the track “Forever” to act as it’s visual entry into the world of pop video’s. The video was directed by Austin Peters and can be viewed below…..
