Video: Frank Ocean - "Pyramids" (NSFW)

Frank Ocean had a big weekend having first performed on last night’s Saturday Night Live season premiere and now dropping a slightly edited down NSFW video for the nine-minute channelORANGE highlight "Pyramids". The clip was directed by Nabil, who also helmed "Novicane" as well as videos we have shared for the likes of, Bon Iver, and Antony and theJohnsons. Like last nights aforementioned performance on SNL John Mayer makes an appearance in this one.

Video: Nekrogoblikon - "No One Survives"

I saw this and had to post it. One of those cases of awesome video,.. mehhh song. Could be good, just not my genre of music. The video is for the band Nekrogoblikon's track "No One Survives" off of their latest album Stench, and is directed by Brandon Dermer. A tale of a shlubby goblin lusting after the beautiful girl and gets pushed too far.

“I saw Nekrogoblikon randomly through a good friend one night deep in the San Fernando Valley. I was so inspired by their live performance and straight-faced commitment to absurdity, I knew that very moment that if our efforts were to be combined it would result in something truly special. Four months later, we had a f*cking video.” – Brandon Dermer

If you recognize Brad, that is because he is played by Tyler Dawson from the flick Bellflower released last year and keep an eye out for a cameo from John Lajoie(The League) as the bartender. The effects look great and were done by Monster-Effects, the same team that worked on Rob Zombie's flick, The Devil's Rejects.

BONUS
I couldn't help but think of Goblin Cock's "Stumped" video while watching this. Hopefully this shit becomes a genre in itself and there will be many more like these to come in the future...

Happy Friday!

Finally the world of ice cream and punk rock come together!

Listen: G.O.O.D. Music (Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T, Jay-Z and more) – “Cruel Summer” Full LP Stream

So here we have the hugely anticipated Cruel Summer album from Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music featuring Big Sean, Pusha T, R Kelly, Jay-Z and more. I really don’t feel the need to get into specifics with this one because unless you have been living in a cave for the last few months you know exactly what’s what with this one. I will tell you what I am most excited about and that’s that Onomatopoeia favorite Hudson Mohawke apparently produced a very healthy chunk of this album? I wasn’t loving some of the early singles but as a complete project this works quite well.

Listen: Kool A.D. & Bill Ding – “Hypersensitive Jester”

After sharing a new tune from fellow Das Racist member Heems earlier today we got something fun from Kool A.D. and Bill Ding. “Hypersensitive Jester” is full of great one liners and humor, the laid back production comes from Steel Tipped Dove.

Video: Death Grips – “I’ve Seen Footage” Interactive Version

Death Grips are a perfect example that if you do things your own way without regard to the mainstream or with what other people are doing the results can be downright exceptional. The band recently teamed up with MTV to make one of the most interactive pieces of film I’ve ever experienced. Filmed with over 50 cameras simultaneously, at a party, you can click from person to person to get different perspectives while listening to their tune “I’ve Seen Footage”, almost like an audiovisual chose your own adventure book. There are even some tasks you can complete during the video, as well as hidden cameras that can found throughout. Do yourself a favor and spend some time with it HERE now!

Listen/Download : A Tribe Called Quest & The Pharcyde Mashup Project “Bizarre Tribe”

Here is something that should put a smile on a lot of people’s faces who love them some 90’s hip hop. Bizarre Tribe: A Quest to the Pharcyde is a “mash-up” of beats and rhymes from A Tribe Called Quest and the Pharcyde. It was put together by Amerigo Gazaway, of Gummy Soul, who famously made the Fela Kuti and De La Soul project, Fela Soul, last year. I’m happy to say this project is equally successful. Listen to and download below …

Throwback Thursday’s: The Resurgence of Indie Labels

This week’s Throwback Thursday coincides with an annual event that takes place tomorrow in San Diego California. San Diego Music Thing Music Conference and Festival is a place for all things music and one aspect of music is business of course which brings us to the panel, Music Industry 101: Basics, or everything you need to know to get started in the business of music in 2012, which occurs at the event each year. The video below is of last year’s panel included Justin Perason, of Three One G Records and The Locust, Jello Biafra of Alternative Tenticles Records and The Dead Kennedys, Scott Simoneaux of Aquarium Drunkard/Autumn Tone Records, Josh Feingold from Songs Publishing and Scott Pactor of Zoo Music. In the hour and five minute stream you get to hear words of wisdom from some very interesting and inspirational folks as they field questions from the crowd including things like how to start a label in 2011, digital distribution vs. physical, file sharing, Major Labels vs. independent, their opinions on vinyl’s resurgence, how to get signed and more. The sound quality is a bit crap so you might have to boost the volume up a bit but it’s well worth the watch if you are a fan of any of these peoples work or just wan tto learn more about the music business today, yesterday and the future.
