Hudson Mohawke’s 4-track EP Chimes is out Tuesday,
Sept. 30 on Warp Records. You’ve probably heard the title track in one form or another but today we can share two more tracks from the release for your
listening pleasure. “King Kong Beaver” is the stand out of the two in my
opinion feeling like a more complete track then “Brainwave” which sounds more
like an interlude between songs. Whatever the case the Scot always seamlessly melds
the worlds of hip hop and electronic with his own special flair for the
dramatic.

Video: Lido – “Money”
I’ve been following 21-year-old Norwegian producer, Peder
Losnegård, aka Lido for a year or two now and he continues to impress me with
his Cashmere Cat like approach to electronic music. His remix of Banks’ “Drowning”
is definitely one of my 2014 favorites and the I Love You EP gets plenty of
plays on my ipod. Lido’s star will only rise as time passes and his name gets
out there more and it’s well deserved so with that I give you his brand new
video for “Money.” I actually tried remixing the tune a couple weeks back,
maybe I’ll share what came out of it in the future but for now let’s focus on
the original which has some great visuals provided by artist/director Jam Sutton to go along with the schizophrenic production.

Listen: Aphex Twin - "Syro" (Full LP Stream)
Unless you have been living in a cave recently, or aren't a fan, you would be
aware that Richard D. James is dropping his first album since 2001 under his
famed Aphex Twin
moniker. Again anyone who could possibly want to hear the record and has a
basic understanding of how the internet works has already spent time with Syro
but for those who fall under said caveman dwellings catagory here it is for you
in full before it’s official release date next week. “180db_[130]” and
CIRCLONT6A [141.98][syrobonkus mix]” are two highlights for myself if anyone is
asking , what says you?

Onomatopoeia Exclusive Download: /ˈjedˌīak/ - “Forever Fearful” (Drake ft. Kanye West & Lil’ Wayne vs. Ian Brown & “Honesty Is The Best Policy” (Future vs. Fossa)
I skipped posting something special yesterday to give myself a
breather and work on something new instead. Pretty happy with how these came
out although there is nothing worse then spending an entire day making
something and then facing a roadblock at the last step; Soundcloud wouldn’t let
me upload one of the tracks due to DRM issues with what I imagine must have
been the Ian Brown track used. I like to try and keep everything in one place
so when I have to stream one random track someplace else, frankly it’s
annoying. Whatever the case I figured I’d go with Mixcloud and also create a
download link since they don’t offer the option as such.
On that note first up is “Forever Fearful,” which took me a
stupid amount of time to get just the way I wanted. Sometimes these things can
take an hour or two; sometimes they can take nine or ten. This was one of those
painfully long ones. The music is
handled by the aforementioned, Ian Brown by way of his song, “F.E.A.R.,” while
the vocals come courtesy of Drake, Kanye West and Lil’ Wayne’s “Forever.”

Next up is something I came up with spontaneously after hearing Fossa’s new tune “Bae.” I figured it be fun to try something out that fit the contemporary landscape after spending so much of my day on the retro based “Forever Fearful.” I’d been sitting on a bunch of Future acapella’s for a while and “Honest” fit the vibe I was looking for nicely. The irony isn’t lost on me that I only just properly heard the Future track right now for the first time as reference for what I’m writing here!

Video: Grimes (feat. Blood Diamonds) - "Go"
Grimes has unleashed the video for her new single "Go",
a song that she previously announced was originally written for Rihanna. To be honest when
this song first popped up about a month ago I wasn’t very excited about it and
unfortunately I’m still not. It’s not bad by any means but you can tell it was
written with a more mainstream audience in mind and there are already plenty of
people doing music exactly like this and arguably better. With that being said
let’s see what the album brings us, I still have faith that I will be surprised
and excited and you know the video below will at least entertain.
Co-directed by Boucher and her brother Mac under the
production alias Roco-Prime, and was inspired by Dante'sInferno.

Listen: Three Unearthed Elliot Smith/Mike Doughty Colaborations
Soul Coughing’s Mike Doughty randomly dropped three EDM
collaborations he recorded with Elliott Smith in
1998 this week to many people’s surprise. Doughty, who records his electronic music under the alias UUL, had this to say on the music…
Smith recorded the vocals a cappella while he was in town
working on the Good Will Hunting soundtrack. The tapes were only just
retuned to me in November of 2013 so I just started laying out the backing
tracks.
At the moment it sounds unfinished to my ears but it’s never
the less a treat for his many fans.
