PassionPit‘s forthcoming album Gossamer is
scheduled to drop on July 24th via Columbia but we haven’t really gotten a
chance to hear any material from it until now. Fans of the band’s infectious
electropop sound have been eagerly
awaiting new music from Boston based Michael Angelakos and company since the release of Manners
in 2009. Below, you can listen to the first single, “Take A Walk”.

R.I.P. Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys
A very, very sad day as news comes in that legendary Beastie
Boys MC Adam Yauch, aka MCA, has passed away due to cancer. He
was 47 years old. The Beastie Boys are one of the most important and
influential hip-hop groups of all time, just recently being inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Adam most certainly left his mark on this planet
and will be sorely missed.

Throwback Thursday's: Futura 2000 with Fab 5 Freddy
Time to strap into your time machine for Throwback Thursday
because this week we are going back to NYC circa 1982, a time when NYC subway
cars had graffiti on them and hip hop was just starting out. Staring Futura and
Fab 5 Freddy this 10 minute video seems to act as some sort of intro to street
culture for the uninitiated masses from a very different time. Futura’s work
was pretty much light years ahead of his peers, you could see it today and it
would look as fresh as it did 30 years ago, can’t say the same for all the artists
featured in this short. Shot and edited
by Dean Winkler and Stephan Gosweski with music by The Clash featuring Lenny and
Freddy.

Video: A$AP Rocky – “Goldie” (NSFW)
A$AP Rocky released his first major music video since receiving
his payday from his major label signing in the form of new single “Goldie”.
The self-directed clip was shot in Paris and with assistance from fashion
designer Alexander Wang. Explained the upstart MC, “Basically the concept of
the video is to be more flamboyant and just to showcase a lot of flashy
luxury—old foreign cars and fashion models. I need you to know this is all my
idea. I’m the flyest motherfu**er you know.”

Video: Anthony Lister In Los Angeles
"Arrested Motion filmmaker Carlos Gonzalez brings you a new
video in which he interviews Australian-born artist Anthony Lister. Documenting
the artist's multiple visits to the city of Los Angeles during the last 9
months, this video sheds light on not only the artwork created by Lister, but
it also brings to the surface his views on topics such as street art, technique
and the themes pushing his artwork forward."
Video: Quakers – “Smoke” (Feat. Jonwayne)
Hip hop collective Quakers dropped the latest video from their recently
released self-titled LP. “Smoke” featuring Jonwayne sticks with the formula we’ve
seen so far for these videos, handy cam recordings and a lo-fi vibe. Check out the Shane Sakanoi directed clip below and if
you like what you hear make sure to pick up the LP now via Stones Throw which features
production from Portishead’s
Geoff Barrow.
Video: Raiders Of The Archives – The Skateboard Museum Part 2 of 5
Last week we shared the first part of a five part video
series entitled Raiders Of The Archives, featuring NikeSB sales rep, Nick Halkias’ skateboard collection. Nick let Skateboarder Magazine into his
condo to get a firsthand look at some of his trophies, and the stories that
come with them. Episode two includes a
great tale about a chance run-in Mark Gonzales had with Madonna and Shawn Penn. With decks from the likes of Shut, Santa
Cruz, Real, Ride Free and more, being featured in the short, you can enjoy it below with the next 3 episodes to come on a weekly basis.
Listen: Lykke Li – “Come Near”
Record Store Day has come and gone but we are still sorting
through all the releases that came with it. One such release that might have
slipped by you was the Ingrid multi artist compilation, Volym 1. Featuring
artists like Miike Snow, Andrew Wyatt and the reason you are reading this, LykkeLi. Volym 1 acts as the home of an unheard Lykke tune by the name of “Come Near.”
The tune has got a dark vibe to it with its chanted vocal delivery and rolling,
tribal drums fitting nicely into the Swede’s existing catalogue.
